"Hmm," gasps Eric, "I may have picked the wrong side in this skirmish. You there! With the torch!" he calls to Amadeus. "Can you toss a little fire their way, maybe light some oil and throw that? We need to drive them off and save the fallen before it's too late!"

Quasmus assists Amadeus in dragging Cale and Rutgar clear of the cave mouth. They look about for some suitable cover to deposit their companions.
"How many of our companions are left alive? I could not tell. Shall we return to check? I confess — my worldly magics are useless against such vulgar creatures. And — alas! — I have abandoned my pole, my dagger is lost, and my flammable oils are spent. Only my formidable wits remain."
The flames have died down, Lizard 2 is munching on Agh-ubar, or at least trying to, shredding his chainmail in the process.
Hump would be pretty safe to drag out. Eric or Lögmaðr would be risky, Eric somewhat less so than Lögmaðr. Agh-ubar is closest to the cave wall on the right, and Eric is more towards the center of the cave, with Lögmaðr somewhere between. Agh-ubar is likely to be a goner.
The Lizard is busy consuming its meal and Hump and Lögmaðr are dragged out also. The Lizard seems so intent on its meal that Amadeus is able to grab Eric, and Quasmus is able to retrieve his 10' pole also.
Outside the cavern, Quasmus and Amadeus quickly assess the condition of their companions. Rutgar at 0 hit points is severely wounded but will recover on his own. The others require a constitution roll, 1d20 <= Con reduced by the number of hit points below 0 - note: a healing spell or potion would reduce the penalty or even produce a bonus, but a roll would still be necessary unless the resulting healing from a single spell or potion brought the character to full hit points).
Hump (Con 12 - 5, roll 18 does not survive) Cale (Con 12 - 3, roll 12 does not survive) Lögmaðr (Con 13 - 4, roll 15 does not survive) Eric (Con 8 - 4, roll 14 does not survive)
