Discussion of player goals

Gentlemen,

Here is where I'd like you to individually tell Makofan and I what your character's goals are. This is also where you all, as a group, should figure out your initial motivation to join up as a group and seek your fortunes.

Note that, even if your PC is a slacker with no clear goals, there is a daily cost for food, clothing, and shelter (see page 45 of the Rules PDF) and I'm ruling only the first month is pre-paid.

Note that, while your homeworld can be anywhere in the Union, UPC, or Consortium, the game will begin with all of you together on Nirvana.

My character comes to the planet looking to either be recruited on a starship as a pilot or find a ship he can call his own.
It may sound simplistic by my character simply dreams of traveling the universe and becoming the best pilot in the entre the d**n sector.

Also he's tottaly not opposed to working for a tyranical military unit or a failing rebellion operation as-long as they give him the chance to prove he can fly.
Ronny wants other pilots all across the galaxy to know and fear him.

As stated on my character's record, he simply wants to gain enough money to actually settle down and retire from his violent and dangerous path in life. However, if something else arises during actual play that proves of great interest to Regin I could add that to one of his goals in life (such as helping a cause, perhaps becoming romantically interested, etc.)

I wanted a character that can work together with the others easily, so he's sort of a Jayne Cobb-figure: a bit crude, rough around the edges, but the prospect of profit can always keep him motivated.

I always dread the "what are you goals" part. I never seem to come up with anything interesting.


Ah well. My guy has a 17 Charisma. He's a personable guy. I think he just likes going places and meeting new people.

It's all background for the novel he plans to write one day.

Mike is a pilot, a scout, an explorer. That what he does, that's what he is. He's not particularly interested in getting rich, he just wants enough dough to keep him flying and feed...and to see the sights of the universe.
