Sorry for the delay; I forgot that I had kickball last night. Yes, kickball. The things we do to convince our interns that the job is not all 80 hour workweeks...
Anyway, new IC post is up.

I think eris is on vacation right now Not much of a vacation, guys! I've been in and out of hospitals, doctor's offices, dealing with physical and occupational therapists and trying to care for my Mom. I think I just plain missed a whole week here, didn't I? I'm afraid it's not going to get a lot better for me over the next few weeks either. My sister and her family arrive on Monday for a week, then I'm back at work the middle of the next week prepping for classes that start on the 19th. I'll *try* to get online and read the threads and post when I can, but it might be best to move my characters to the background, and/or (and I'm okay with this) turn them into semi-NPC's until I can get time and my brain back into the games. Sorry, Eris

Not a vacation at all but I'm glad to hear your mom's in good hands.
Fully understand where you're coming from. Just let me know when you can get back into it and we'll go from there.

Well, I'm reading and trying to make a post in all the games this afternoon. Maybe, I can do that every day or two...maybe. <sigh>

The good news for you is that this game is proceeding at a glacially slow pace so checking in every couple days might be enough.

Speaking of pace, the next IC post will be on Sunday evening, unless everyone posts before that and I'm in front of a PC...

New IC post is up.
I took some liberties with Wurster's actions but I assumed that he would take the shot once hostilities broke out.
Rather than making checks, I just assumed only Regin would spot the gunshot detection monitor, since he's the only one with Perception 1. I still made him roll the Culture check to figure out what it was, and gave it a fairly tough difficulty level, but he passed the test.
I didn't see any rules regarding two weapon attacks so I decided to allow them. However, I think the rule will be the off-hand attack is made at -4 if the skill (in this case, Combat (Projectile)) is 0, -2 if the skill is 1, and no penalty if the skill is 2 or more. I reserve the right to adjust that rule after consulting with Makofan.

Also, I am new to the rules so feel free to call me on anything I missed or misinterpreted.

That's fine, that is what I wanted him to do if trouble broke out.

I am thinking maybe shooting with both hands just bumps up the difficulty level to the next level, so a two-point penalty on each shot would be an elegant solution. Just my $0.05 (we don't use pennies in Canada anymore)

I would agree that the solution given for dual wielding is elegant and works well. You're handling the rules excellently Sulldawga!

I for one don't actually know the rules. You're doing fine as far as I'm concerned!

I had intended to do an IC post yesterday afternoon but work got in the way. Then I had a rare Tuesday night soccer game. So I am hoping to post today but I have a vendor taking me out to lunch so who knows when I'll find the time. Tonight at the latest, if my house doesn't burn down or something...
SPOILER ALERT - someone gets shot.

I never got to posting on Saturday night but new IC post is up now.
I made Mike waste a round or two looking for license plates because he doesn't have Culture (Nirvana) and wouldn't have known they didn't exist on this planet.
Wurster only got +1 for attacking from behind because I ruled that those attacks negate any DEX bonus for the target.
As you can see from his attack bonuses, the Pugilist is a complete bad-ass. Between him and the lookout, I was expecting Rahim to be cut down with ease but the dice are the final arbiters and they gave him a reprieve.

OOC questions about the situation: are there any ways of potentially disabling the vehicle with a mag pistol? Shooting at the tires (unless they're specifically armoured), shooting the engine block (assuming a mag pistol is significantly more powerful than a modern-day handgun, or just capping the driver (assuming windshield is not bulletproof - though I guess it isn't, since my previous shot went through a window just fine). Also, could laser pistol do anything a mag pistol can't?
Also, considering the sedan's orientation, in what direction is it likely to drive away?

Are there ways of potentially disabling the vehicle with a Mag pistol? Sounds reasonable to you. Shooting at the tires? There is no reason that you know of that it shouldn't work, barring special circumstances like the armored tires you mention. Shooting the engine block? A Mag pistol does more damage to a person than a 21st century handgun, but you're less sure about engine blocks. Your character has no Science or Tech knowledge so you can't say if it would work or not. The windshield is obviously not stopping the Mag rounds. The sedan looks modern to you, which means it probably runs on a Type B power cell, not gasoline or another type of liquid fuel easily ignited by a laser. Reasonable to assume a laser may do damage to a car where a Mag wouldn't, but it all depends on where you hit the car. Wurster doesn't have any skills that suggest he knows where to shoot. Whoever drove the sedan into the back lot took the time to turn around so it was pointed toward the street but you have no idea if it's going to turn left or right once it hits the street.

Looks like Cameron is taking a break from the boards so I'm going to DM-NPC his character until the current encounter is over.
After that, Wurster will be taking his leave of the group.
Do you guys wanna go forward with four PCs or should I look for someone else?

New IC post is up.
Probably should have made hacking the Navy satellite system a Security 10 check, so I could make hacking the City system a Security 8 check. But since I didn't, I had to find an easier system to crack with a Security 6 check. Why did I want to give you guys a fighting chance at passing this check? I don't know. You're welcome.
I had no idea what Rahim wanted to do. Shoot and then run? Run and then shoot? Run and then wait and then shoot point blank? I went with Option C. Lucky for Rahim, the virtual dice are hot! I was going to add a -2 for trying to hit a moving vehicle but then I figured he was so close, and the car was moving relatively slowly, so I didn't bother.
Now the next round's encounter with the police is even more interesting. I didn't expect the sedan to still be here.

Well, WITH the action narrated being a single combat round, yes, that's what I meant. Will be happy to elaborate in advance next time it's needed. Also, OOC: what do we know about these police drones? Are they bulletproof? Are they armed? Are they remotely controlled by a human or a braked AI? In fact, how big are they exactly, are those antenna-looking things realy antennae, or something stronger and sturdier? Is the red thing near the bottom a camera? PS: Oh, and how high up is it from the ground right now?

Well, WITH the action narrated being a single combat round, yes, that's what I meant. Will be happy to elaborate in advance next time it's needed. Yeah, I'm cool with players giving me an idea of what they're going to do over multiple rounds, so long as it's clear what's being done this round. Those with Culture (Nirvana) know that some drones are bulletproof and some are not. You suspect the one sent to a firefight in progress will be one of the former. Some are armed and some are not. The previous logic applies here as well. You have no insight into its intelligence, having only viewed them from afar or heard stories second-hand. This will be a learning experience for you! This one is roughly 0.5 meters x 0.5 meters x 0.5 meters in size. No information available about the antennae. No information available about the red thing at the bottom. It has the look of a weapon but you don't know for sure. It's roughly three or four meters off the ground.

I'd like to get the next IC post up by tonight, if possible. No pressure though, seriously.
My family reunion is this weekend and while I may have time to post, I may not.
Then I have soccer on Monday night.
Then I have a fantasy football draft on Tuesday night.
So if I don't see posts from everyone tonight, it may drag for a few more days.

Yeah, I don't know where, with all of this going on, I'm going to find time to do some draft prep. Way too early for a draft but that's what happens when you have to accommodate 10 guys in eight states across three time zones. I remember the "good old days" where we all lived in the same town and actually had drafts with everyone in the same room. After I graduated from college and moved away, I still drove four hours to go back for my draft. And then I'd drive back again, after the season was over, because we charged money for picking up free agents and put that cash toward an end of season party. Good times.

New IC post is up.
I'm going on vacation from Sunday to Tuesday.
Wednesday night I have another fantasy football draft.
So let's aim for everyone to have posted by Tuesday and I'll try to get the next IC post up either Tuesday night or sometime Wednesday while I'm at work.
