There doesn't seem to be a thief option! 😫 It's been awhile (and several versions I gather) since I last looked at DD, but is there even a Thief class in the game? It used to adhere quite closely to the LBBs sans supplements.

Check out here for the DD website Immersive inkV1 and V2 are in PDF at Drive thru for free. V4 is available at the link above and there is a link to a POD copy as well.

I have an old Brave Halfling box set of Delving Deeper, it has the thief as an optional class. That was based on the 1st edition of the rules. My other copy is the softcover v4a which also has the optional thief. So it has always been there, as an option at least.

They print out AMAZINGLY in PDF Booklet form and when you put the cardstock cover on it, MAGIC! BUT There needs to still be a THIEF option on the Character generator so I can roll up a few hundred for a convention!

Any news of an update for a thief option? I so do love that character generator! It's an open source project, so--at least in theory--anyone could add DD thieves. Taking a quick look at the code I see that a DDCharacter extends LBBCharacter which has a property "def thieves(self):" which returns False (character.py line 387). To add thieves for DD you would need to set thieves to True for DDCharacter (at, say, line 708). E.g., exactly as for Apollyon at line 521. Then, if you want DDv4's 4 in 6 thief skills, you'd override each of the individual skill percentages (characterclass.py line 167) with '1-4', just like hear noise currently has '1-2'. One way to do this would be to override these values inside the DDCharacter definition, in character.py. E.g., insert characterclass.THIEF.skills = {...} at line 708. Should be doable Edit: of course then you would have to ask funkaoshi to push the change out to his webserver, or else deploy your own instance. Edit: I also noticed there is an open issue for adding DD thieves, so perhaps this is something funkaoshi intended to put in all along?

Sorry, I don't check this forum near as often as I should! I think I left the thief out because I don't think you need them as a character class. I will find some time and add them as an option. It shouldn't be pretty easy, I think. People can just ignore them if they don't want to include them.

IT would be awesome for generating a pile of characters for a convention!

The only bug I see is that the thieves seem to only be human.
"Thieves are sneaks, trouble-shooters, and infiltrators who operate by cunning and subtlety. Men, elves, dwarfs, and halflings can advance without limitation but because thieves are necessarily underhanded they cannot be aligned with law. Dexterity is their prime requisite."

I'm confused about how that would work: I think of Delving Deeper (and OD&D) as race-as-class, so you are a thief or a dwarf. I should double check that the XP progression / saves are correct as well.

that's an interesting take funkaoshi... i wonder if that's more the B/X model? FWIW, EGG's adaption of Switzer's thief (which, together with the Warlock rendering of same was the primary source of the DD4 thief) has: <<Men, Dwarves, Elves, or Hobbits may become thieves>>. By the time we got the GH thief, it extended this idea with race-specific adjustments to thief abilities.

The way I have interpreted (and programmed) things, I had treated all the OD&D derived systems as race-as-class. It’s the year of OD&D so I should re-read Delving Deeper and the little brown books and review my code.
