I've been working my way through the final chapter of the Compleat Rules, basically dealing with campaign design (Underworld, Wilderness and the Realm) as well as some miscellaneous referee advice. The original plan was to include samples of each of the three main elements - a maze (a.k.a. a dungeon), a regional map, and a base town. Unfortunately it looks like this will take the book beyond what I consider the "sweet spot" of around 100 pages. Not an issue while both are PDF, but when the Compleat Rules eventually become available in hardcopy, excessive page count becomes a problem. There is a solution. While the rules and explanation will still form the core of the final chapter, the step-by-step examples will be extracted to form a (free) separate, stand-alone PDF. The logic being that, while this serves as an in-depth example as well as introductory setting and scenario, it is not something that will be referred to again and again at the table. I personally have never liked introductory adventures in the core book for that reason. The artwork for this "tutorial" module will still form part of the Indiegogo, with possibly stretch goals for a colour poster map and the like. basically, the rulebook and the module will still be treated as one thing as far as production goes, but the final product will be in the form of two separate PDFs. You can read about it here: dreamscapedesign.net/2013/10/20/the-sample-campaign/

Indeed it does, although this will only be my second visit (the last one was a North Island road trip). I'm sure it won't be the last, though.

Not that I've had much time to post lately, but I just want to let my reader know that I'll be out of touch for a while - 2 weeks in New Zealand and then a month of temporary accommodation while moving house, so time online will be spotty. Never fear - lack of internet access should at least enable me to finish off the text and layout and get an Indigogo video sorted out.

Quick Q's:
1. Will Compleat feature the 2 attacks with normal weapons and 1 with large weapons as per the manuscript? 2. Will Compleat have racial level limits?
Cheers in advance.

Quick answers (still up to my ears in moving and end-of-semester stuff):
1. No - the intention is to stick closely to the published rules (for this edition, at least)
2. No.

Hi Vile! Any news or updates on Compleat? I'm keen to learn of any new developments, here, myself, Vile Traveller! I check your blog site pretty frequently... Would love to hear what's going on with the complete rules! By the way, I printed out your "Maze of Nuromen" yesterday at work. Lovely adventure, Sir. Some great ideas in there! I really dig some of the 'creepiness' that you put in it. This, and Seven Voyages of Zylarthen, are curretly top on my wish list (well, outside of the hope that my Delving Deeper Compendium gains a hardback 'big brother' too ). Can ya hook a bruther up with some info?

Compleat is still in the pipe because I'm now updating the Maze of Nuromen, mainly adding some more setting background and links to the other two adventures in the trilogy. So I'm afraid there's still a way to go (because those two adventures are next before I get back to Compleat)! But it's all in a good cause.

Thanks to all the proofreaders! I have now incorporated all the suggestions I'm going to, which includes quite a lot of those made. Now it's time for the last edit of the text prior to finalising the layout in readiness for art. Things are moving - slowly, but not that slowly.

Cross-checking the spells is slow work, I must say. Still, needs to be done. Wouldn't want something crazy creeping in, like leaving out the description for detect invisible!
