Thankfully, the passage seems angled slightly uphill, for you soon tramp out of the mist and water, and tread the dry cobbles of a broad avenue.
The kobold scuttles ahead as quickly as its short legs will carry it, checking over its shoulder now and then to see Mot is still following. Despite the dark and treacherous passage, it is not too difficult to keep up.
It becomes apparent that the passage is one of a parallel pair, each 10ft wide, and separated only by a long series of wide arches. Loose cobbles, rocks and old bones litter the causeway, and there is the foul stink of unclean habitation in the air.
You travel the first score yards briskly, before a new chamber comes dimly into view ahead.
"Theyz here!" yaps the kobold over its should to Mot...
What now?

Triandir would move off into the parallel passage and shadow Mot. He would be most concerned with keeping a line of site on anything coming out of the chamber via either the corridor Mot is in or the if there is a parallel opening in the passage he is in. Trying to move as quietly as possible and listen for noises.

Vangelis is alternately looking above and at the floor, wary of the trickery of these foul creatures. He has shield and mace at the ready.

Ædelwynn is humming a particularly bawdy tavern ditty to himself very softly, while calling the enchantments of sorcerous slumber to mind...

Jaras, unsheathes his dagger, knowing it's impossible to hide with a torch, he still takes some cover along the side to be less susceptible to any missile fire. He wishes for the eyes of his step parents.

Gaspard
Gaspard walks softly, now carrying a big stick. They're here, indeed...

Malaveque stows his staff and readies a dagger and his scroll of Charm Person. He waits in the later ranks in the shadows for the melee to begin.

In the column, the fighters traverse the passage among the arches and shadows. Up front, Mot sees just a hint of two thick-set, man-sized figures rising to their feet before a dark arch. Clearly they will have seen the torches that the company carries. They can't be much more than 40ft ahead...
I've heard from the others, but what does Mot do?

Mot will cast his scroll of Sleep on the guards, so they can't set off an alarm.

The two guards seem unperturbed initially, but then jump to the alert as they see that the figures approaching their position are not kobolds at all! But by the time they are one their feet Mot's sorcerous incantation is already complete.
His scroll vapourises into motes of moonlight that twinkle for a moment before vanishing into nothingness, and the two thickset reptilian guardians topple into a hissing slumber. Their spears and shields clatter to the ground and their forked tongues dangle limply out the sides of their crocodile jaws.
The kobold is quite surprised by this very unusual behaviour, and pokes tentatively at one on the sleepy brutes...
"Wassup?" it inquires.
The referee rolls a reaction check for the guards, figuring a -2 penalty due to all the noise of the recent melee, but also a +2 because the charmed kobold is happily leading the way [2d6=9] resulting in an 9. It's a positive result, so the guards must have figured it was simply the kobold party returning to base after whatever tomfoolery they were up to.
Alas for them. Only at the last moment do they see their error, but by then it is too late. The referee rolls to determine the effectiveness of Mot's sleep spell [3d6=6] (the referee privately wonders if there could possibly have been a better roll?) and 6 HD of creatures are affected.
The Lizardmen (for lizardmen they are) are 2+1 HD creatures, so they will soak up 3 HD worth of sleep each. Mot's magic is exactly strong enough to sleep the pair of them without affecting anyone else!

Dram slits the throats of the two guards, being careful to do it when their kobold ally is looking elsewhere. He will then search the two bodies for anything valuable or useful.

Dram slits the throats of the two guards, being careful to do it when their kobold ally is looking elsewhere. This might be tricky, seeing that the kobold is actively inquiring after the lizardmen's health...

Revision: Dram will try to convince the kobold the lizard-men are very ill, and need to be restrained (with very strong ropes and secure knots) so they don't thrash about and injure themselves in their delirium ...

The Kobold still seems worried about the unusual state of the Lizardmen, but is distracted by the more immediate menace of Dram as the fighter approaches muttering some incomprehensible (but doubtless threatening) babble. The little reptile hurries to hide behind Mot, and peer around him.
When Mot assures the little creature that his fellows will take over the guard duty, the Kobold seems at least partly satisfied, and anxious to lead Mot into the lair.
"Tis safer herrre," it yaps.
And in reply to Mot's question it attempts to count off the numbers on its three clawed paws, but after getting beyond the six fingers on its two paws several times, it finds the count irreconcilable.
"Lotsa!" it concludes, and insists on pulling Mot by the robe toward the entry.

From the shadows of the arches, Tirandir attempts to peer into the chamber beyond, but all he can see is the dull ocher glow of some far off torch or fire. From this he concludes that the dark chamber must be at least 60ft wide.
The air within smells foul, and carries to his ears a far off... scream?

OOC: Just to clarify there are multiple arches leading into the room? That is one for each corridor, correct.
Tirandir would turn back towards the party and hold his hand in warning and gesture to be quiet. Next he'd point to Mot, then to the kobold and then towards the rear of the party. Assume Mot takes the Kobold out of direct view of the guards Dram would get the nod to continue....
Once the party has gathered up near the arches, Tirandir would crook a finger at Jaras and point into the room, then wave at the rest to be ready....
[OCC: Assuming that all happens, and the lizardmen are dealt with and the Party is basically on alert in the corridor then Tirandir would proceed, if not then he'd just wait.] Tirandir would then turn to sneak quietly into the room, arrow ready, hopefully with the hobbit archer close at hand.....

[OCC] would it be prudent for Jaras to extinguish his torch, and stay behind one of his better visioned elfen step-kinsmen? He could grasp on to the back of a cloak to ensure guide-abilty. It isn't like torchlight is that effective for archery. [/OCC]

OOC: I forgot that you had one of the torches. Whatever you think obviously. Not trying to be bossy, just thought "hey two sneaky archers could scout the room". That way we could shoot anything and flee back into the waiting arms of the party if there is trouble.... -Mike

Mot tells the Kobold, "Hold on, I need to tell my friends to guard the door". Mot turns to the party, "The kobold tells me there's at least six, could be many more. Might be a death trap if we go in. How about we create a distraction to lure some of them out...perhaps some burning oil?"

[ooc] a hurled burning oil would be great, especially for illumination for this wee stout archer. Who has oil? [/ooc]
Jaras readies his bow quietly, and fingers a nice arrow with anticipation.
