Everybody packs up at the tower, with the gold loaded on the carts, and gets ready for the long journey back to Verbosh

"It is my intention to put my hat into the ring for leadership of Verbosh, when we return, seeing as how I have the floating blade of which the rumors speak, and we deposed Hargor" Yhency announces. "Can I count on the group for support? I'm sure Hargor will have some allies that may need dealing with. Wasn't there a court wizard or something like that?"

"If someone else has not already ensconced themselves, it may prove to be more difficult than planned. Still, I am with you." Flandil says.

"You have my support," William declares, looking round at his men to see if they're with him on this. (I seem to recall they had no particular affection for Hargost.)

Hargor was despised by his men, you can probably buy them off, but it will be costly. Hargor had about 300 men, so his payroll would be somewhere between 300 and 1000 gp per week. Of course, a ruler would have some tax money coming in...

Kell shrugs his shoulders saying, "I suppose I'll support you, but why would you want to be a king? It seems like a lot of work if you do it right, you'd be stuck in the city all the time and there would always be someone trying to take your job."
"I think it would be faster taking boats back down the river." Kell mentions to the others, "But I'll be alright if we stay on solid ground myself."

If the boat capsized, we could loose all our treasure! At least on land we wouldn't have that worry ...

I will be away this weekend, may or may not post from my phone.
Jariel sees the point of having less risk of losing the treasure to the river by traveling by horse. The one issue might be if we don't have enough capacity to carry all the treasure, though Jariel has spare horses (he will use Thom's horse as a pack animal until we return to Verbosh at which point he will give the horse to Thom's next of kin.

You have both a wagon and a cart, so you have plenty of capacity

You all set off, with horses and bumby wagon. Near the end of the day you approach the town. Enter for the night, or camp outside?

Is this the goblin town? (Sorry, my memory is terrible) If so, Flandil will advocate camping outside!

This is the base town about 5 hours from Gorlminder. Goblin town is about 3 days past that

Kell smacks his lips and says, "That tavern had good ale last time we were here. Let's go in and sample a little more and find out any news the locals have. It'll give us a chance to board our horses for the night and get them good meals before we set off on the long journey back to Verbosh." OOC: I'm assuming this is the local village, not the Goblin village half way back to Verbosh.

Jariel and Garfund will be in the middle of the party leading the mules and riding horses
Each PC should take a sack of gold (so we don't lose it all) and an item of jewelry. The silver and copper can ride on the cart. William's share can ride in his wagon...
We need a volunteer to go up front in place of Kell otherwise I think our dungeon marching order is ok.

Flandil: "Bringing a wagon loaded full of precious metal into a town may not be the most wise decision. Once it is spotted, it will only be a matter of time before a theft (of the entire wagon, or some of its contents) is attempted. I propose we keep the bulk of treasure out here, well guarded. Those of you who prefer a jaunt into town may do so in small groupings so the remaining may maintain a constant watch on our valuables."

Flandil speaks truth. Do we actually need to go into the town here though? Might be better to push on a bit and camp along the road.

William agrees with not taking the treasure wagon into town.
He'll give his men a bit of coin, so that they might visit the pub. But he cautions them against discussion too much of what we've been up to.
William himself will stay with the wagon.

It is a week back to Verbosh, and foraging on the way is not as wise a move as carrying supplies. If nothing else, we should send in a supply...and info gathering party...even if we camp outside of the village.

Kell says, "I'll drive my cart in with those that are going and someone can buy supplies for our journey while I buy a barrel of ale from the innkeeper." Grinning through his beard he adds, "I think a barrel should get us back to Verbosh without going too dry."

Yhency and his men will stay at the campsite to guard the goodies. "We've come too far and risked too much to lose our valuables through indiscretion."

Jariel will stay with the wagon. He will ask Kell to purchase some rations for him and Garfund, handing Kell sufficient coin for 2 weeks rations for men, and 6 weeks of trail rations for his horses and mules and Garfund's horse.

I'll say 200 gold will buy two weeks of supply for the entire caravan, including ale. Anybody else going in to town? I will post the town update tomorrow or late tonight
