"Well, I'll be switched!" Kell says with wonderment in his voice, "I'm not dead, and I'm standing on a dragon's hoard!"

Flandil keeps watch, both in the direction from which we came and the passage ahead, in case the noise of battle draws any of the curious. He does not attempt to crowd around the pit with the others.
((OOC: It seems from the description that the pit is not blocking the passageway?))

Patronus wil ask Kell to fill 4 empty ials with some o the dragons blood Kell will do so, but also calls up to the others, "You know this dragon's horde is down here, too." "How about some help bringing it up?" Kell shouts up to the others, "And bringing *me* up while you're at it!"

"First we need to decide if we should proceed, or take the dragon's loot out of here to a safe locale." Flandil replies.
~~~~ If we want to proceed, we'll need some way of crossing the pit... jumping may be too risky.
We could use a rope to lower ourselves down one side of the pit, then climb up the other, but I don't see anything on the map on which we can secure ropes, plus at least one person would need to jump to get to the other side first. One strong character could perhaps hold the rope to lower everyone down, jump across, then pull everyone up one-by-one from the other side (with more help as more characters get up to the right-hand side).
How rough are the pit walls, do they look like we'd be able to climb them?
Anyone have any other ideas?
I say we fetch out the loot, and depending on how big the haul is, take it out or continue on a different path.
We can come back later with something to enable crossing the pit.
Any features on the ceiling, that we might affix a rope to and swing across?
While Kell is filling vials and everyone else is discussing the pit, Patronus strips off his gear and armour, gets a running start and tries to vault the pit. if he makes it he gets someone to toss him some spikes, a hammer and some rope so we can build a small rop bridge.
Patronus has to roll his DEX or less on 3d6. He rolls a 15 and falls short, smacking the wall and tumbling 20 feet into teh pit, taking 7 damage in teh process
Indigo sees what Patronus was trying to do, and decides to make the attempt. He manages to scramble up the other side of the pit with an impressive display of agility
"I could use some help, but there's easier ways to get down here than smacking into the other wall and falling in." Kell says dryly then adds when the human doesn't bounce right up, "Are your badly injured Patronus?"
Flandil maintains his careful watch.
"Once we have contrived an egress from the pit, let us, as our primary goal, emancipate the reptile's hoard. You will likely find it most efficacious to fasten a sack to a rope, lower it into the pit where Kell and Patronus (who has helpfully joined our dwarvish ally) may place the valuables therein, and then we may haul it upwards."
Flandil assigns Highdly to aid in spiking the near/west side of the pit in preparation for the rope bridge. Afterwards, Highdly will aid in haulilng the treasure up.
Yhency looks each of his 3 henchmen in the eyes and says, "Well done, men. Now we've a dragon's hoard." He holds his hand out, and the dancing sword returns. He sheathes wolfsbane and gets to work hauling treasure out. He looks at Kell and says, "Nice hammer hit!"
"We'll want to search the pit bottom and walls for secret doors, too. At any rate, I vote we take the loot, then head back to the Tower."
"But yeah, that dragon had to get in and out of here, so there must be some sort of door...maybe the ceiling is the door, but I sort of doubt it."
If not,I will make my own determinations and you may be unhappy
Caller hat on...
I think Patronus and Kell are gathering treasure. Yhency (and Flinn and Westbrook?) are helping haul it up. Flandil and Indigo are using spikes and rope to create a bridge to cross the pit.
Jariel and Garfund will stand guard, perhaps 20' back from the pit. I'm assuming William's henchmen are standing guard, ready with their crossbows.
I think the others, William, Carrington, Jerome, and Highdly are also standing guard.
If anyone desperately wants to do something different or got forgotten, let us know by end of day Tuesday.
Also, William has one large and two small sacks to help haul away the treasure in.
As a helpful detail, the treasure consists of thousands and thousands of copper, silver and gold pieces
I suppose they're all mixed and it will take an inordinate amount of time to just grab the gold?
I think to simply sort it out into piles would take two or three people about an hour
Ok, how long to just collect it all? Do we have enough bags? Jariel has some he can toss down.
I think we're going to have to exit with this haul and sort it in our tower.
Ok, we'll collect it all. Then we should head back to the tower with our haul.
Please let us know your preference to continue to explore, or return to the tower with the haul by end of day today.
