I have run a few games now set in M.E. using LL ruleset. One issue I am having is that there seems to be a bit of a lacking in diversity of monsters available to the DM. Did MERP ever put out a monster manual of any sort? Or was the monster info mostly in the box set rulebook. What do you use for a monster resource for a M.E. run campaign?

You could check out ICE 8005 Creatures of Middle-earth. It starts with animals and creatures named in Tolkien, and extrapolating and drawing out every throwaway reference they could find. It’s at times too mundane, but overall kind of interesting, and it proves, at least, that Tolkien wanted Middle-earth to have a LOT more monsters of many different kinds. I think reading it would make you shirk less from using more D&D monsters.
A man may do both. For not we but those who come after will make the legends of our time. The green earth, say you? That is a mighty matter of legend, though you tread it under the light of day! —J.R.R. Tolkien
