I have an urge to run some D&D in the Young Kingdoms. I have Stormbringer 1st Ed (Chaosium), so thought I might convert this in some way. Maybe, as has been sugested elsewhere, Elves can stand in for Melniboneans, Orcs could be Orgians. Anyone else tried something similar. Any ideas to save me some work? Especially on Melnibomean-style sorcery, since I expect I'll have to dump D&D magic more-or-less completely.

I've been thinking about this since you posted it, and as far as magic is concerned, I'd just port the system over directly. Most, if not all, magic in the Young Kingdoms involves summoning, right? And if I'm remembering correctly, you summon things using your Power score. So, give a magic-using character a Power score, maybe their Charisma x 5?, and away you go!

There was also a Melnibone sourcebook for d20 (called Dragon Riders of Melnibone) that might be helpful. Just strip away the extras and it should work for old school D&D.
