"True, the priests of the Sleeping God are well known to do deals with demons. But then, so are the servants of Ksarul's cohort, Gruganu, the dark magic god" says Hrunal quietly. "Imalcho, the reek comes from up ahead, not that door behind us. Or do you mean another door? I hope we get out of here before we meet whatever is making that smell."

Imalcho"I meant right there," he said pointing to the door just visible at the edge of the torch light. Just beyond it is our left turn." "From there it is straight out of this filthy sewer and into the basement. I for one can't wait to get some fresh air." = Map: home.earthlink.net/~djackson24/EPT13.JPG

"Ho! Be alert for traps, cousins," Kevuk says as he continues moving forward, bringing up the rear. The party continues to follow Imalcho's directions past the door and towards our destination (unless someone posts otherwise).

Beginning to feel the effects of slogging through the sewers for an hour, the party stumbled into the dump of a cellar just off the sewer. This was the exit that Imalcho had spoken of. After the stench they had passed through, its foulness was refreshment. Just up the rickety stairs was the exit to the ally that led to The Plaza of the Bounty of the Empire. Though the stairs looked ready to fall if any weight were applied to them, their looks were deceiving. They were actually rather stout. They had been reinforced in such a way as to still look flimsy. =

"Whew! Maybe I won't lose my breakfast after all. It's nice to see stairs up. Imalcho, you said we're to meet the representative of Turning Wheel clan at the gates to the Temple of Karakan, right? Will it be alright for the warriors to walk the streets armed and armored like this? Assuming of course that we're properly meek and polite to all we pass.

Imalcho
"Yes, the Temple of Karakan. It is beside the Palace of War. If we skirt the edge of the plaza and head left we can get there easily."
"I've seen others people with their personal guards in armor. It is not prohibited. I fear that if we do cross someone, we will be considered guilty of affront automatically because of it."
If a reaction roll is ever required, expect minuses due to appearances. =

'We should stop at the temple and pray to Karakan while we are at it,' says Gereshma, 'My own deity is puissant and powerful, but it does no harm to get the wargod on your side if you are goign to have a fight.'

"I will pray with you brother, even though my preference is for Chegarra." He looks down at himself. "Perhaps we should clean ourselves up first? I have no wish to insult his temple or his servants!"

Imalcho
"If we had a container, we could send him," he said with a nod towards the torchbearer, "to the plaza fountain for some water."
"The smaller fountain is to our left and near the edge. It would be right on our way." =

"These stairs are suspiciously robust. Let's check them for traps, and then get up and out of here. I have a couple of waterskins that the slave can take to fetch us water."

Kevuk is not fastidious, but he does wipe himself off as he examines the stairs.
If they don't see any traps, Kevuk will suggest that the torchbearer try the climb first...

Gereshma mounts the steps and marches smartly up to the trapdoor and opens it.
'Hoi slave!' he yells imperiously, 'Bring me light, now!'

From the trapdoor Gereshma can see the room above. It is in little better condition than the cellar. The smell of human waste is fresh and strong. Holes near the far wall look to lead down to the sewer that you just exited from. You guess that this room is used as a public toilet of last resort by the merchants in the plaza because, in the room there is man making use of the "facilities". He is startled by Gereshma's sudden outburst.
There is also an open doorway leading to the alley beside the building. =

Kevuk, still bringing up the rear, is ready to squeeze out through the sphincter at the top of the stairs and the Thrice Removed Shrine of Bountiful Elimination - towards their next goal, assuming no further complications in the bowels of Jakalla or their environs.

Gereshma calls up to the person visible above.
'Sir I bid you a good day, and ask that you pause in your mediations until we leave. And for the Dark Trinity's sake don't fart, we have a lighted torch down here.'
He then goes out into the alley way, hoping not to meet any passers by until they can get to the well and clean up.

To the left Gereshma sees the alley quickly opens onto the plaza. Stalls fill this open-air marketplace, a wide variety of goods are being sold. Cheap jewelry, clothing, fresh food from rooftop gardens and household goods, all can be seen.
To the right the alley winds deeper into the close packed buildings. =

Kevuk will clean himself up and then proceed onward, or else help out his clan-cousins with any investigations they undertake.

When the slave returns (and he'd better!) Gereshma washes and proceeds across the square to the Temple of Karakan.

The slave dutifully fetched water and returned with it. After a quick splash and and wash off with the water, the party proceeded to the temple. Imalcho looked for his contact and pointed him out to Gereshma when he saw him.
The contact was lounging on his palanquin near the entrance under an umbrella being held by a slave. The palanquin bearers were squatting off to the side. Elechu hiHrugarimis was identifiable by his Turning Wheel clan symbol, a dark brown wheel on a ocher background. He was finely dressed and the slave and bearers were girded in ocher linen.
Imalcho greeted him and introduced the party. =

'Greetings friend' says Gereshma, searching his failing memory for suitable grammatical form of 'you' for the occasion, 'I understand you have a problem with certain people we may be able to solve for you ina suitably direct and resolute fashion...'

Elechu hiHrugarimis
Speaking to you while making arm motions that look like giving directions, Elechu said, "As the esteemed Imalcho may have told you, information has come to my attention that I cannot directly act upon. My clan cannot be seen as taking sides in this affair but, having this issue resolved in a way favorable to Onyx Anchor would be preferred." "He also said that you have no reservations in addressing this distasteful issue without any assistance besides a location, is that a correct understanding?" =

'Merely point at your enemies and we shall disperse them unto the depths of the Unending Grey,' says Gereshma trying to fathom the hand waving. 'After a manner of speaking. A map or at least accurate verbal description of where to do find them will do better, and, of course, they will never know from where the death blow came.'

Hrunal thinks to himself: "oh, very clever. To watchers out of earshot, the exalted Elechu is merely giving directions to our humble selves. I wonder if he will tell us how to recognize the child, and what to do with it."

Elechu hiHrugarimis
"The boy's clothes will have the Onyx Anchor symbol on it so he should be easy to identify. His name is Trasune and I expect he will repond favorably if you say his father Bashan hiKogush sent you. "
"It would be best if you return him to their clanhouse in the city, without mentioning my involvement. I'm sure that returning the boy will be looked on favorably by Onyx Anchor."
"Over there, at the temple entrance, my man will provide you a map."
With that he ends his hand waving and appears to dismiss your presence. =
