The ankle-deep water rushes into the room, leaving the spider on the floor to try to scramble up the closest thing it can find, which is Renardo! The spiders are quicker than our heroes, and the wall spider's attack leaves it attached to Carlo's shield, while the spider on the floor can not penetrate Renardo's boot. Carlo cleaves his spider in half and scrapes it off the shield with his sword, while Renardo's attack is too tentative and misses, as he is worried about crushing his own toes!
There is one spider left on Renardo's boot - what does he want to do about it?

Renardo makes a disgusted face as the spider crawls up onto his boot. After a quick shake is ineffective in dislodging the arachnid, he lifts his boot further and attempts to use the edge of his shield to scrape the spider into the water.
"Careful friends, those spiders we just killed have a deadly venom. One bite is likely to kill a man. We must be on our guard.
There is only one more door to the west of the intersection. Let's check where it leads and complete our sweep of the western section. Then we can head over to the several unexplored eastern passages."
"Venomous?", Renardo says, "Thankfully we have Nike to protect us!" If we had more time, perhaps we could sell them to an alchemist back in the city, but time is of the essence if we are to save Haron's life!, Renardo thinks.
((I thought the Western corridor also continues further west, perhaps always revealing 'just one more door' to our torchlight ? Anyway, like I said Renardo isn't going to argue the point, he will go to the western door and open it ;D))
Yes the Western corridor continues quite a ways - let me update the map
Torchlight illuminates only 30' at a time. If I mistakenly gave you the impression that the Western corridor ends any time soon, please stand corrected now. You have no idea how far it goes. As an aside, the water seems to be flowing in the direction of the narrow north corridor.
So - go back East like Renardo suggested to get the doors you bypassed, continue exploring to the West like Brother Ozmar suggested, or check out the north passage?
The door is stuck, but Renardo forces it open first try, and uncovers a dark, unfinished room almost filled with webs. Some giant black spiders can be seen in various attitudes among the strands. They look very similar to the shrieking tarantula you killed at the well on your first expedition. However, your rapid movements have surprised the spiders, and you have a free round of action available!
What do you do?
