If you had done this thirty years ago, I might have paid more attention in my college French class.
Well done Snorri, and BHP!

Toutes mes! An excelent job is done here. I like the simple b/w-artwork and the overall layout. The way you handled hit dice progression is pretty close to how I deal with it; and the introduced skills (comme des multiples attaques par example) are just right to give a little extra without going out of the OD&D-Frame. The cover by the way is a great choice as well.

I begin to learn english by reading Frank Mentzer' Expert set with a dictionnary... It was still hard to find french rpgs during that time. You're quoted in the introduction, anyway, as I used a lot you btb reading

Snorri
The game looks fantastic! Is there any remote possibility of an English version? Just looking through the character section I like a lot of the methods you've used, like 2d6 abilities, the Fighting Capability and Hit Dice for the classes.
Also, where did you get all of the black & white illustrations that are in the interior? Those are very evocative. The font is great as well.
Hats off to you and John Adams. E&S looks top notch.

Thanx! A translation would be possible. Greyharp allready made a rough translation with help of automatic translator, form the beta version. I can help, but it would be better if a few people able to read french take each a chapter to translate. All interior arts [no transition, but about interior: so sad Lux Interior is dead...] are from the Olaus Magnus Historia de Gentibus Septentrionalibus : commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Historia_de_gentibus_septentrionalibus I'm currently writing a setting, which name will be Lluric [chainmail, il Gaelic !], based on a By-the-book reading of Od&d and Chainmail.

Greyharp allready made a rough translation... Now that the final version has been released, I will wait till any errata has been sorted out before starting another translation. I have got a lot on my plate at the moment, so it may be some months before I get my teeth into this one. If someone bilingual beats me to it, all the better, as two years of high school French has helped me very little.

Mainly typos... (but Typo is a part of Od&d!!!!) ------------------------------------------- John did a great part of the job: he encouraged me - very important for a lazy guy as I am - and provided the support of BHP, which is very important to me. Thanx John!

I think it looks very nice, as far as appearance goes.
I have gone ahead and bought a French-English dictionary (and a language course on CD), so I can read this. (I've always wanted to be multi-lingual, anyway, so I got that going for me).
I took a couple of quarters of French in college, many many years ago, so at least I have a place to start...
Snorri, have an exalt for the fine work you've done here!

I downloaded it, and it looks nice. If only I could speak French. :-(
On the other hand, many of the tables seem self-explanitory and give me an interesting look into the system as designed. Even though I don't know the words, the number seem neat.

Hi ! I'm very interested in buying a paper copy of Epées & Sorcellerie, but when I downloaded the latest free copy of the .pdf rulebook, I noticed a strange blank block on the right side of the cover and interior pages. Is it something that will appear on the paper version of the booklet ? If so, could it be fixed ? (I also noticed that, on the character sheet, the "Dxterity" of the first version had been changed into... "Dzxterity" ! It's on purpose, ain't it ? - anyway that's not a major problem since I intend to create my own character sheet ) Congratulations to Snorri for his great job on this refreshing game.

Hey there and glad you like Snorri's game! Where did you download the pdf from? There sounds like something must be wrong with the pdf.

Where did you download the pdf from? There sounds like something must be wrong with the pdf. I downloaded the pdf with the white right margin from lulu. Now, I also downloaded the 02 pdf from RPGnow and there was no problem. But since the file that will be printed on paper is the lulu pdf, I wondered if tje white right block would stay. (Note that this margin did not appear on the earlier version I also downloaded via lulu) what do you think ? Could you check it out ?

Well, I have fixed the pdf. Lulu was forcing the document to resize to 8.5 x 11. But Lulu is not letting me upload a text file for the print version. Hopefully we will have that fixed by Friday. Thanks for letting me know there was a problem.

If you just had a look at the post between yours and John's... Oh ! yes, sorry. Of course I read it. But I assumed you had ordered the printed copy from the first document (the one with Dxtérité on the character sheet) and not the second one (with Dzxtérité), the one which is (was maybe) having a problem (or at least it did seem so). Maybe I guessed wrong. I didn't mean to overlook your post. Thanks Coleston for having checked with Lulu !

The first module for Epées & Sorcellerie is now available (in french): La Tombe d'Ulgubash ( Tomb of Ulgubash), by Grégory « Cathbad » De Backer. dnd.ezael.net/ogl/ulgubash.pdfIt's a 4 pages dungeon, with a nice old-school blue map, easy to play in one session, with everything you need to be happy - including Moldvay-style dark humour. I'm very happy
