Anyone seen it yet? I heard on the Cubicle 7 forum that some people have the PDF already today.

I'm on the list to get a PDF but haven't gotten my link yet. I think paper copies are supposed to be shipped "the week of GenCon" which, I guess, means any time.

I got the link and downloaded the PDF. I haven't gotten into the rulebook much, but it's really pretty and has nice maps. Nice maps! There are two maps with the game; one wilderness map with hexes for the DM and another without hexes for the players. The maps go from roughly Moria northward past the lonely mountain. East-west the map nearly starts at the Shire and goes to the wilderlands in the east. The focus of the campaign is Mirkwood and the lands surrounding it, and the time frame is roughly that of the Hobbit. I like what I see so far...

I'm so glad this post is here--if it hadn't been, I woulda started it!
I'm also eager to hear impressions of this game. I was reading about it last night, and looking at the available previews, and I have to admit, it got my heart beating. Something about that character sheet, of all things, really captured the feel of "the books", however you define that.
Also, the system really sounds like it actually does what it NEEDS to do, which is mechanically drive the types of characters, interactions and experiences that make Middle Earth what it is.

It is a very nice ruleset, indeed: I really love the mechanics behind Fellowship/Hope score - making the game experience very group dependant - and the slight FATEish inspiration.
IMHO the only weak point so far - but nothing so devastating - is the fact the three core stats are mainly pre-generated.

Yeah, the Fellowship rules seemed really inspired. Cool!
I'm not quite sure what you mean by the three core stats being pre-generated...

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the three core stats being pre-generated... I mean you have to choose - willingly or rolling a d6 - among 6 background templates for each "race", with no arbitrary point distribution.

I have the game. It's a thing of beauty, and it is somewhat crunchy, the character generation system has a very nifty online support page already: azrapse.es/tor/sheet.html

Hey, who's distributing this in the US? My webfu is apparently weak today...

Anyone playing this much? I have run it a couple of times, borrowing from Lord of the Rings Online here and there. There is a lot of support on the Cubicle 7 forum, many neat downloads and a few adventures.
That said, I sort of want to run a pre-the Hobbit game under the influence of a lot of Bakshi imagery with S&W.

The game is beautiful, the maps are nice, there are two books and dice for the game that, while some people have complained about the dice, any standard D&D type dice will work, these just have two different pips, one with an Eye of Sauron and one with Gandalf's 'G' rune.

I own the game and apart from my LotFP copy of Carcosa it is the most physically attractive (in a purely platonic sense - nothing suss) RPG item I own. However, I haven't actually made time to read it yet let alone actually play it. So much to read, so little time.

Might have a trial game this week. It's written by a board-game designer and it does show here and there - overland movement; combat and formal interaction. Well written and presented. I do find the adventure/scenarios a bit vague though?

I finally got a copy of this game and indeed, it's gorgeous. I need to read farther, but so far I like the system; it's nuanced, and it really captures the ME atmosphere. They do a great job of making that 60-70 year period between Smaug's death and the WotR just drip with adventuring potential.
Anyone willing to share their experiences playing/running it?

I looked through it, but I am at the point in my life where it’s impossible for me to get excited about getting into a new “system”. Also, I have gone so deep into development of my own The Hobbit-based supplement, that this game’s approach — emphasizing the canonical LotR-verse — feels all wrong to me.
I have also looked through Tales from Wilderland, which seems to me the realization of the implied story from the core rules. Of course it’s railroady, but it’s at least actual adventuring material. I will probably mine it for ideas.

I looked through it, but I am at the point in my life where it’s impossible for me to get excited about getting into a new “system”. Amen to this. My den is full of games I bought and probably will never play because the rules are just too different from what I already know. I can handle AD&D and C&C and DCC because they are basically OD&D repackaged, but games like Savage Worlds will probably stay unplayed because my brain doesn't work that way any more. There is a new group making a 5E Metamorphosis Alpha, and with a new game system. I'm excited but can almost say with certainty that I won't play it, defaulting to 1E instead when I need my MA fix. Man, I'm getting old. Also, I have gone so deep into development of my own The Hobbit-based supplement... Which you will share with us when complete we hopes, my Precious.
