Soval continues to peer by lantern-light into the darkness behind them as the others investigate. He is ready to move on when they are... Out in the passage way Soval maintains his dour vigil. He fancies that he can make out the shadowly bulk of another beacon suspended from the ceiling in the dimness ahead. These Dwarves must have good eye-sight indeed. He hears the occasional pang echoed up from the vast darkness beneath. Perhaps a rock falling? Perhaps a hammer beating? Impossible to say... but Soval feels certain that the present company are not the only feet treading in Moria tonight...

Lómëluin takes a moment to examine the coins more closely. Does it look as if they might be valueable enough to take the time and trouble to sift them from the rest of the debris? A cursory inspection reveals a haphazard mixture of coin, nail, chain-link, hob, wire, rivets and such. It would take a time to sift through the lot of it with any care, and perhaps for only a few score coins. Lomeluin reaches for a single coin, blows the ages of dust off it, and soon decides it is no thing of the Dwarfs. It must surely be of Man-make, for it looks to be a coin of Dunland.

Norin leads the company back into the main passage, where Soval awaits, and prepares to continue.
The light of yonder beacon does not press much farther into the dark passage ahead... but Norin and Sili (and also the Elves) can see that there is another such beacon ahead.

Lómëluin drops the coin with a dismissive snort and accompanies the others back into the main passage.
On seeing the beacon ahead he wonders aloud; "Can we spare the oil to light this also?"

"Yes Lómëluin it would be nice to light an other beacon, but I fear will will run out of oil before we get very far. Now if we had a mining cart maybe we could put a beacon in it and push it to light the way", suggests Lady Éohild.
Éohild states, "Let us finish up and continue on and see what lies ahead!" " Largo and Baraglin my brave hobbits, your help has been valuable so far, please keep a look out around us as we travel so we are not surprised by any foul beast. Rest assured we will quickly deal with any such creatures."

"We shall drink beer from the cup of old!" cheers Sili. "But first, I thirst for violence--Onward, deeper into the mine!"

On seeing the beacon ahead he wonders aloud; "Can we spare the oil to light this also?" The company has oil enough to this beacon and a few more perhaps... but their supplies are not without limit.

But whereto should one of these mining cars be sought? There were in fact various old metal boxes and tins among the Trolls' hoard...

Lómëluin shifts restlessly. "I say move on," he counsels; "Let us know a little more of these halls. We have light enough for now."
To Norin and Sili; "Lead on, sons of Durin."

Eohild's council is most thoughtful. But whereto should one of these mining cars be sought? There were in fact various old metal boxes and tins among the Trolls' hoard... " Before we move on let us look at those metal boxes, for having a working mine cart would be of great benefit for us to carry items back from beyond we go", states Eohild's. Lady Eohild's motions for her mercenary Barald and others to follow and they will all look at the metal boxes to see if they can be used again.

"It may also make enough noise to wake every orc from here to Dimril Dale," Lómëluin mutters, but he is prepared to follow the Lady's lead for now, eager though he is to move on.

"Thank you Lómëluin my good elf, we can always oil the wheels if need be. Now what do we have over here", says Lady Eohild.
Eohild will investigate the metal boxes.

Eohild and Barald the old boar of Mirkwood, and the Elves Lomeluin and Telthalion linger here a moment, picking over the metal bins and scrap heaped at the back of the Trolls' den. The Hobbits Largo and Baraglin remain also, chatting quietly to each other, while the remainder of the company head back out into the main passage.

By the time the main part of the company have departed (taking their torches and lanterns with them), it is extremely dim in the Trolls' den. Only a faint light from the beacon outside reaches the hoard up the back.
But even so, it swiftly becomes clear to Eohild and the others present that the main bin full of chain and rivets and split helmets is actually a mine-cart for it is on four rusty old wheels...

Eohild lights a torch so they have light and ask Largo the Hobbit to hold it. Eohild addresses the other Hobbits."Baraglin my brave warrior can you keep a look out in case any trouble approaches", asks Lady Eohild with a smile. Then Eohild help Barald and the Elves Lomeluin and Telthalion get the cart on its wheels and on the track again. If need be she will use oil to help the wheel spin again and not make noise. Then they will push the cart to catch up to the others.

Lómëluin raises an eyebrow at the clatter and noise as the cart is righted, but lends his aid to the endeavour resignedly, gesturing to Telthalion to do likewise.
Our proud Elvish captain draws the line at pushing the clanking thing, however. Such work is better left to Men. (Or even better, to Hobbits...)
"Telthalion - take point; we mustn't lose contact with the rest of the company. I have the rearguard."
And he will follow after the rumbling cart, arrow set on bowstring, keen Elvish eyes straining to keep watch on the darkness behind them...

"I agree Lómëluin, we warriors should be freed up ready for any attack that befalls us and not be pushing carts", agrees Éohild .
"What do you say dear hobbits are thee up to aiding our cause, I'm sure you are or you wouldn't be here. Please push the cart along the tracks? I'm sure it will be fun especially down the sloops...", beckens Éohild with her friendly lady charm to Baraglin and Largo.

Barald yanks one of the carts out of the pile of scrap with a great clatter while Eohild ignites a torch and the two Elves shift to look out positions.
Once the torch is aflame Eohild hands it to Baraglin Banks, who takes it from her with a bow.
It is clear that the initial challenge will be getting the heavy steel cart out of the Troll den, into the passage and onto the track. It is 5ft long, 4ft wide and about 3ft high. It is also ancient, rusty and heavy.
Now Hobbits are renowned for their appetites, not for their size or great strength, and the pair present now look on dubiously at the task. Besides, Baraglin has a torch in one hand now.
It would clearly be more practical for Eohild and Barald to Man-handle the cart out onto the track. Else it will take thrice as long for the small folk to achieve the same ends...

Arbenbard: "This is quite a bit of fussing with carts and such. Are we a mining company? I thought we were explorers and adventurers, but perhaps my nose was too deep in books to apprehend our task correctly..."
"Let's leave this rusty heap where it belongs - in the refuse heap."

"If we're to move this wretched thing let us be swift," Lómëluin mutters darkly; "If not, leave it and move on. For our numbers to be divided in this bedevilled place is folly."

Eohild's mind is set about the task, and with the help of Barald -- and no small amount of noise -- she has the heavy mine cart free of all the other scrap.
It's rusted wheels and axles screech and whine awfully in protest as the pair push the cart out of the Troll den and into the main passage.
The main company is two score yards further down the passage, but still in sight. Behind, the first beacon continues to burn on steadily.
Telthalion takes a rear guard position, and Lomeluin the front. The Hobbits look on nervously as Eohild and Barald man handle the heavy cart with a great deal of creaking and banging, and finally get it settled onto the track.
"The Enemy's teeth!" curses Telthalion, "If that hasn't woken every Orc in Moria, we are blessed."
Eohild stands back to clap the rust and dust off her hands and surveys her achievement. The cart is set upon the tracks, and good to go.
The wheels and axles are certainly noisier that what she had hoped, however.
