Session 2, or
How many daggers can I fit in my "companion's" back?
Session two began with a new group of adventurers gathering at the entrance to Kardallin's Palace. Meanwhile, Frederick and Robilard pondered their plight.
Creight the Magic-User
Boredflack the Elf
Gorm the Fighter (17 Strength, rolled on the dice and boosted to 18 by dropping Int)
Percy the Cleric (18 Charisma, rolled on the dice!)
The new group followed in the tracks of the old, making their way to the idol of Set that hypnotized travellers into provided donations to the church.
Meanwhile, Robilard and Frederick poked around in a room to the east. There, they found a stone idol of a serpent with a fist sized diamond clutched in its fangs. Robilard, throwing caution to the wind, grabbed the gem. One successful saving throw later, and he pulled the gem out just before the jaws crushed his hand.
The new adventuring group, save for Creight, piled into the holy chamber of Set. All three adventurers failed their saves, dumped their wealth before the statue, and prostrated themselves. Creight, being the brave venturer, stayed just outside the room and used his 10 foot pole to gather up his companions' treasure.
Frederick and Robilard, noticed a hissing noise coming from the snake statue's snout. Fearing poison gas, they rushed from the room and closed the door behind them. They heard chanting coming from the idol room where the second party was entrhalled by the statue, and decided to head down a second eastern passage.
Meanwhile, the three adventurers beguiled by the idol all rolled 1's on their saves. The statue exerted deeper influence over them, compelling them to travel east and hunt down the heretics who killed the cleric of Set here.
Creight continued to gather the coins left by his companions.
Frederick and Robilard continued down a passage and noticed the light of a campfire. Creeping up, they saw three orc guards. They rushed to attack, gaining surprise.
Frederick threw charm person on one foe while Robilard cut down another. Just as the final orc fell, the three charmed adventurers came around the corner. Seeing Frederick and Robilard in their stolen robes, they stopped in their tracks.
Back in the idol room, Creight tried to pry a gem off the idol, failed his save, and turned to praying to Set.
At that point, Frederick ordered his charmed orc to attack. This broke the charm on Boredflack. While the orcs and adventurers traded a few blows, Robilard found a secret door to the east. Frederick and his orc fell back, the adventurers close at their heels.
Gorm cut down the orc, and as Robilard struggled to find a way to open the door, Boredflack cast sleep.
Meanwhile, Creight threw off the charm, retreated to the doorway, pulled out his 10 ft. pool, and went to work gathering up the treasure he had dropped to the ground.
In fact, Boredflack cast sleep and put *everyone* in the chamber into a slumber. While both parties slept, he gathered up all the treasure he could find (including the diamond that Robilard bravely claimed) and fled from the room.
At that point, the session ended. Everyone had a good time, and I'm curious to see how long we can go before the PCs come to blows.
