Well, I wish I could take credit for somehow "instinctively" understanding Chi-town...but I'm just following the precedent set down in the book!
I DO know that the game was always supposed to be in Chicago of the 20s and 30s (with some New York elements thrown in as well)....I'm guessing for legal reasons they changed it to "Lakefront City"...but CLEARLY; so many people are modelled after real people...the Mayor..."Al Tolino" (Capone)....Deanie O'Connor (Deanie O'Bannion); etc., etc.
Anyway; I also wanted to let everyone know in case they missed it; I updated the Prohibition Agents thread with what's happening in the rest of September, 1927 and to let everyone know that each of these characters now has 10,000 xp and has advanced to level 2. Buy skills (or not) and equipment (or not) as you like!

Okay; the fist post for the Indpendent Characters Scenario 1 is up. I will hopefully soon have a map up with the situation shown a little clearer.
As for equipment for these characters; everyone can spend 100 bucks for equipment; however, please keep in mind the situation and the place.
Joe and Del could both maybe be armed...if Joe is typically following crime-related stories; it's concievable that he may have a small pistol and a license to carry it. Also; Del might have been given a Derringer or a .25 "Baby" pistol by Roderick or another "gangster/gun-moll" pal. I'll leave that up to you players.
Gus would almost certainly be armed since he's in the middle of a bodyguard job a the moment. Fred could go either way. Again; I'll leave it to you players.
Any immediate questions/comments?

I don't know the history as well as perhaps I should. Would a PI typically be allowed to go armed (conceal/carry)? I kinda doubt I would have went armed to the bank to get a loan.
I'm probably going to be away from the keyboard till Monday... I'll take a look at the post then?

Similarly with Del, I can see how she might own a little Deringer, but I don't think she would take it to work at the bank unless her boss allowed it and/or it would be very unlikely to be discovered...
(As an aside, I think (based on a little Googling) that the .25 "baby" was not imported into the USA until the 1950's.)

The P.I.s would almost certainly have the permits to legally carry around their weapons; though; as you say; perhaps not the best thing to do when trying to get a loan; but that's your call; I'm good either way! As for Del; her boss is a proud ex-Roughrider who plans on shooting it out with anybody who tries to rob his bank...I don't think he'd mind if one of his employees wanted to carry some protection! Though, he might be surprised at WHICH employee it is! As for the .25 baby; Colt made a "clone" of the Browning design; the Colt 1908 .25 automatic; they are very close to being the same weapon. I probably shouldn't have called it a "baby"...sorry about that!

Alright then, Del will purchase the Colt 1908 .25 automatic. What price would you set for that, about $50? She'll keep it in her purse. (PS: I know absolutely nothing about guns IRL

I'm tempted to handicap my player for the loan thing... would it be OK if I had a backup weapon like a Derringer and kept it around my ankle? I would only be armed with that... that way I can look respectable AND be armed?

Hey Kipper: On the first page of this thread I have a list of firearms and thier prices; for a Colt 1908 "Hammerless" Pocket Auto in .25 caliber; the gun is $22.00; it comes with 1 clip that can hold 6 bullets. A box of 50 bullets costs $2.50 and extra clips (if you want them); cost $2.50 each (they come empty). You know; I've had a big interest in guns for gaming purposes for years now....I have no desire to own any or go hunting or anything like that. I guess I'm wierd that way... Chicago; Having a Derringer in an ankle holster sounds fine. As noted above; the prices are listed on the first page of this thead. Let me know if you have any questions/concerns!

Since I don't know how much money Fred started out with... can I still have the Derringer?

Thanks! Del will purchase the gun, plus one box of bullets (no extra clip). $22+$2.50=$24.50. But she only carries one clip-full of bullets (6) around with her (loaded in the gun), keeping the box of extras at home.

I apologize and you're right, you did post that. I will purchase the Derringer + 1 box ammo - ($17 + 2.50) and the Colt 1911 .45 + ammo (50+2.50) for a total of $72, leaving me with $28 left. I will have the Derringer on me at the Bank.

Gus and his boys will be packing a winchester 1912 pump action 12 gauge. With a large knife on his hip. For intimidation. =)
Sorry about the huge delay. Family is a bit sick.

Allright...next post coming later tonight or tomorrow... Chicago: Cody and company are absolutely in range for shooting; nobody would be more than 30 feet away... Kipper: Del can definitely hit the alarm unnoticed....in fact; if she looks closely at her friend Janet; she will see she is doing the same thing! Mr. Tinkles: Gus can own a shotgun; but he wouldn't have it on him in the bank...the bank would be fine with a known, licensed P.I. carrying a handgun (out of sight)...but not a shotgun. The knife is fine too. Also; who are his "boys"

Okay, next post up!
Things are about to get INSANE! Just so everybody is on the same page.....
-Paul Sand is toast... -Cody is lightly wounded (from Grant's shot) -Red is seriously wounded (from Fred's shot)
-Cody and Red; and Fred and Del are all within 15 feet of each other and everybody is aware of each other pointing guns at each other
-Gus and Sal are inside the vault and the door has just been shut (not locked)
-"Lucky" and unknown policer officer are facing off at about 20 feet; and they are about 30 or so feet from everybody else.
-Joe is about 40 feet from Lucky about the same from the other 4 participants

Yea, I'm really enjoying it as well. It feels a lot like a "Pick your own Adventure" but that is a good thing - IMO. Gotta say, I'm impressed that Fred survived that whole deal. He's a bit of a daredevil, that one.

Well thanks feallas! I'm kinda blushing now!
In all seriousness, I do apologize for the slow pace; but I do know that both Mr. Tinkles and I have very small children to deal with; which does tend to take up some time!
I AM trying to keep to at least 1 post a week and I will certainly do my best to ensure that that happens!

Okay; pretty much the "finishing up" post for the first scenario for the Independent characters is up.
Please tell me what you'd like your characters to be doing over the course of the next 3 weeks or a month or so in thier lives.
I tried to make it clear that pretty much all of these characters would have had a chance to get to know each other in the aftermath of the Bank Robbery and various possibilities could come about...
-The Detectives might want to team up....or perhaps become rivals...
-Del might be interested in any of the fellas....or perhaps her jealous, tough-guy boyfriend might take an interest in one of them for being a bit too "chummy" with her...
-Joe Clark could be interested in any/all of the characters as good contacts for future stories...or he might just like or dislike any of them for whatever reason...
As in the end of the first Scenario for the Prohibition Agent characters; all of these characters are now level 2; have 100 bucks to spend on what they want and have 10,000 xp to buy new skills or save as they will.
Next up....after the wrap-up for what you want your Independent characters to be doing for the next few weeks; will be the first Scenario for the Mobsters characters!
Thanks for bearing with me!
-Max

Okay; I should have the first post for the Criminal's Scenario up tonight/tomorrow.....I just wanted to do a quick check:
Everybody still good to go with this game? I know the pace has been slow and my apologies for that; if anybody wants out, I understand.
Kipper? Coffee? Chicagowhiz? Mr. Tinkles?
