Yhency replies, "First stop is the pit room so we can put this ladder and these planks down on top of it. I don't want to get into a fight right now while carrying it."

Flandil pulls a perfumed handkerchief from his lacy wrist, and holds hit to his nose as the party goes deeper into the sewers. He simply nods at Yhency's statement.

At the bottom of the ramp the passage continues west, but one branch heads straight north. The west passage is the damp sewers you are used to, with maybe half an inch of water on the ground. The passage leading north is dryer. Underfoot are a dozen skeletons and the rusted ruins of as many blades. Patronus does a closer inspection of these skeletons and says a prayer/blessing over their remains.

Patronus agrees with Yhency's plan

You head west and find yourself in familiar territory. All that is left unchecked along this section is a door in the north wall and an opening in the south

Glad to be back in the dungeon, Yhency waits for others to do the scouting as he and his men carry big heavy things and wait in the rear.

We should check the opening to the south, let us spike the door though.
Assuming nothing major to the south, we should continue straight to the pit/treasure room.

At the intersection (where the new passage heads north) Gallaine looks about for any fixture or bracket which may have been designed to hold a torch. She thinks it would be a good idea to leave a burning torch here so that she can look back toward it from further up the passage.
If anything comes out of the north passage, she may see it in the torch light, or else see it blocking the torch light from her view if it is further up the passage when she looks back...

Unfortunately there are no such torch fixtures/brackets here

Is this passage dry?
Perhaps we could leave a lantern instead of a torch. It would serve the same purpose and last even longer.

Flandil doesn't want to leave his lantern behind, so he waits for someone else to volunteer theirs ;D.

William has a lantern (probably carried by one of his men). He'll light that one and put it down at the intersection.

Galline gives William a smile and a graceful curtsy for sparing her own lantern such an unenviable fate...

The north door is one of those dwarven, heavy carved doors with a one inch sill. There is no room to place a spike in this well constructed door. The south opens into a chamber full of webs

Flandil keeps a sharp eye & ear to the passage behind the party, ready for anyone who may have followed us down the well.

The north door is one of those dwarven, heavy carved doors with a one inch sill. There is no room to place a spike in this well constructed door. The south opens into a chamber full of webs Kell looks one way and then the other, "Webs...perhaps we didn't clear out *all* of those spiders after all. Best to deal with that now when we are at full strength rather than risk something coming up from behind, or besetting us as we retreat to the well later after expending out resources." "Then perhaps a look behind that closed door built by my ancestors before moving on?"

"Yes, burn the webs!" Kell nods agreement, "And have one of those spells ready in case we find lurking monsters within them."

The webs flare up! After a minute or two of choking black smoke, the flames die down and reveal a rough chamber of about 20' in diameter, and some bones on the floor.

Lets quickly check the bones for anything worth taking.
The we can deal with the dwarven door on the North side of the passage.

Agreed!
Kell cautiously enters the chamber, keeping an eye out for any beasties that might drop from the ceiling, or rise up from the bones. After making sure the room is safe, he will examine the bones for any treasure left behind.

Since Patronus got the last one, William will say a prayer over these bones.

Gallaine remains in the passage outside, none too enamoured with the musty scent of old bones.
She keeps a careful look-out, especially back toward the well entrance where the lonely lantern still (hopefully) holds vigil...

I don't think we need more than Kell and William to enter the chamber, the rest of us will stand watch in the main passage, the front part of the party looking forward towards the entrance we came in from before, the back part looking toward the rear and the lantern. At least a couple folks in the middle ranks should observe the goings on in the chamber.

Kell's dwarven senses alert him to some badly camoflauged wood painted to look like rock on the east wall of the chamber. It was probably hidden behind the webs that were burned.

Hmm, we probably should check that out before proceeding, we wouldn't want to not get to it and have the spider temple folks remove anything interesting from behind there since it became obvious it was there now.

"Look here!" Kell says pointing at the poorly concealed door, "It looks like someone tried to hide a door here by making it look like stone."
He moves back to the corridor and tells everyone who didn't enter about the probable secret door in the chamber finishing with, "We should explore behind that door before moving on. If it wasn't important it wouldn't have been camouflaged in the first place."

His scented kerchief still to his nose, Flandil nods to Kell and indicates with a flourish that he will continue to keep watch in the corridor outside.

Kell, William, are you up to opening the door? We will wait out here in the main passage ready to support.
