A legally available reprint of "Palace of the Vampire Queen" is available at the link below. Permission was obtained from the module's author to make a limited reprint run of 100 modules for the North Texas RPG Con. Those that were not sold at the Con are available for purchase. This is a slice of OD&D history, folks! PotVQ was the first commercially available module, ever. I'm not connected with the seller in any way, but I'm assuming that when these are gone, they will no longer be available. More details about the module are available at the link. What are you still reading this for? Go buy one! ;D rpgmarketplace.com/auction_details.php?auction_id=107619

There are also a number of both first and second printings of the original available on the same site linked to above. The prices are a bit rich for my blood but if one is a collector they are worth a look.

I purchased a reprint. I like the fact it is digest-size and will fit in my original white box.

I picked up a reprint version. I'm tired of looking at the real thing, deciding it's way out of my price range, moving on. This way, at least I can stop looking....

Mine came today. Sweet!
...and wow. Talk about a BARE BONES dungeon, looking at it from even later Basic/AD&D standards. This really gives you just what you need to run and lets you go with it from there.
Pretty cool.

It didn’t surprise me, since I have been studying Tegel Manor lately. Yeah, it is bare bones. Just the thing to throw in the white box (I like that it is digest sized) and run at a convention or something.

I don't know you could do it in a 4 hour con slot. There's a lot of rooms there...

I don't know you could do it in a 4 hour con slot. There's a lot of rooms there... The only cons I have been to were held in Lake Geneva and there were no 4 hour slots. Some games went quicker (board games and the like); D&D games lasted however long people wanted to keep going. I was in one that started in the morning and didn’t finish until after midnight! (We did have a break for dinner and strolling around town.) Anyway, a lot of the rooms in PotVQ are empty. And besides, why would you need to explore all of it? Is that an expectation in most con games?

Good show, Morandir ... jolly good show! The module is well-packaged for shipping. The product itself looks great. The module is already sitting in my OD&D white box.

These guys ship fast! Unfortunately I'm out of town, so it's sitting at home all lonely and unread until I get back on Wednesday. Boo.

I looked through mine while eating at a Mexican restaurant on the way home from NTRPGCon. Wow. I had many ideas. Also, you wouldn't dare to read through an original while eating at a Mexican restaurant.

Just curious if there will be a similar opportunity to get other WW products. I'd like to have a cheap reprint copy of Dwarven Glory again, all these years later.

Thanks for this. Just purchased the PDF copy from RPG Marketplace. Looking through quickly, I have 2 questions:
1) Level II - Room 32 lacks a description, but appears that it should have some # of orcs (and probably some loot) given the Conjurer's comment in room 3. If anyone knows, is this a bug of the repro or is the original like that, too? Thoughts on how much to put in there?
2) Has anyone crunched the numbers to see how high a fresh character would progress in levels (were he to survive) while playing through this? There's some seriously nasty stuff up on level V.
All in all, pretty basic but it looks like there's some fun stuff to play with here.

Woohoo! Home a day early; I'm going to go over this before I go to bed. I'm really liking the maps - lots of style points for the borders!

So ... has anybody tried to sell one of these yet on eBay or Amazon? If so, how much did you get for it?

I'll have to sit down and through both copies that I have - Frank Mentzer's photo-copied version he ran at Gary Con I and the reprint I picked up. I'll let you know what I find! I think we made it to either lvl 2 or lvl 3 of the adventure in a 4-hr time slot with Frank as the DM. Had a lot of fun with it!
