In yesterday's session, the adventurers of the Grey Company defeated the last leader of the Caverns of Thracia, who polymorphed a lizard man into a red dragon, summoned an invisible stalker, conjured a 16 hit dice elemental, and was nevertheless defeated when one of the party's magic-users used a /ring of rapid transit/ acquired from a planar trader (who got it from Arduin) to run up the cavern wall, hit him with a /scroll of power word stun/ (found during a side trip to Borshak's Lair) and cause him to fall 180' to his death.
Reaching this point took about 20 sessions each about 6 hours and was one of my all-time great gaming experiences.

Maldoor's player has some more detailed statistics: From the spreadsheet1 we used to track the Caverns of Thracia campaign, we recorded: 154,790 gp worth of loot2 250,666 experience points 42 players 61 characters 14 character deaths3 24 levels gained4 7 characters present at 10 or more sessions …and of course Tavis, who attended all 25 sessions. 1 Totals do not include exp from sessions 22 and 23, and only includes the 2,450 gp of known loot from session 23. 2 Value of all exp-granting loot only, not magic items. 3 Including Maldoor, who was subsequently raised. Mortality rate = 23% 4 I estimate 3-4 more levels gained from the last two sessions.
