I was going through my Carcosa folder and realised I had a stack of Word documents and pdfs from various forum posts. I decided to chuck a lot of it together into one document and print it out as a booklet. I then decided to pretty it up a bit with a cover - and here it is:  I contributed nothing to this collection and only a couple of pieces are credited. I'll try to get around to crediting every article in an updated version down the track, but I'll have to trawl through a couple of forums to find where I got the original material. Oh and I made a few minor edits here and there, not realising at the time that I was going to put the finished project on the net. I should also point out that this was done without the permission of any of the "contributors", so I hope they don't mind (let me know if you do). Anyway, I hope people get the same benefit I will of having all this stuff in the one place. EDIT: To my great embarrassment, I've just discovered that over half the content of the Carcosa Coacervation had already been published in Cameron DuBeers' The Carcosan Grimoire. Consequently, I have removed the download links. The reason this happened is because I didn't read The Carcosan Grimoire when I first dowloaded it last year and I have only just printed it today, the same day I printed myself a copy of my document. What I will do now is hunt the forums and blogs for more articles and then re-release it here, but this time I will do it properly and seek author's permission first for all content. Apologies to those who may have printed this document already. |

Geoffrey - thanks for the credits. Once I've got the lot, I'll upload new versions of the files. And yes, I love learning new words too.

I thought it was a shame that there was some great stuff on forums and blogs getting buried and lost, this way it is more available. The magazine idea is a pretty good one, although I think given the small volume of stuff out there so far it would have to be a quarterly affair. Still, it might inspire people to be creative.

I like that magazine idea! I'm wrapping up a set of ten brief encounters for the Icy Wastes that I was planning on submitting to Fight On!, but I have other ideas as well that I would love to get out there.
Quarterly might be a bit ambitious (isn't Fight On! quarterly?), unless we can convince Geoff to contribute some tidbits from his campaign to each issue. My 'Strange Sights of the Doomed World CARCOSA' freebie is at 278 downloads, perhaps that can be used as a measure to gauge interest - I only spammed three forums with the link.
CARCOSA inspired my renewed interest in gaming, and quite a bit of creativity at a time when I am looking to explore that kind of activity, so I'd love to keep at it in any capacity.

Am I the only one who doesn't have a problem with a magazine published "whenever it's ready"?
Why tie things down with monthly, quarterly, yearly, or whatever. Just put 'em out when they are full of stuff. If that turns out to be one per year, fine. If that turns out to be every other month, also fine.

I'd just be worried that it wouldn't ever come out. |

Trying to meet a regular deadline is stressful and difficult to do for publishing. I did a bi-weekly newsletter (non gaming) ages back and it was really tough to "fill" every issue . An irregular journal can have a word or page count to fill prior to publishing and be published when the total is reached. |

I think that's the best model. Nothing worse than having to fill up pages with junk just to get a certain page count. This sort of thing would rely on the contributing public, and if no one ever contributes it never comes out. I did a (monthly) gaming newsletter for several years in the 1980's and jjarvis is totally correct about the stress involved in trying to make deadlines with filler. I used to compile lists of "what I can write to fill space" which was a terrible thing. Now I have these boards and can just write stuff here to fill space. |

Even though half of it was rehashed content from the CG, I did really enjoy the content not covered by the CG - namely, the first 16 or so pages (Imaginative Origins of Carcosan Sorcery, Lin Carter on Carcosa, Carcosan Sorcery is literally INHUMAN, and Kethelnesh).
The first chapter - Imaginative Origins of Carcosan Sorcery - was a real eye opener. The Carcosan Sorcery is literally INHUMAN artical is really interesting, but I personally find the brutal atrocities to be great motivational tool, to play the worst sort of "rape the puppy" bastard! Kethelnesh is a nice start-up/home-base community, that evokes a strong sword & sorcery feel - a seedy mixed community, ruled by greed, vice, vengeance, and - above all else - superstition! I have yet to get to the Lin Carter on Carcosa article, but I really do enjoy his stuff.
Nice cover, by the way!

I think the idea of a Carcosa Annual has merit. And, there's no reason that some things submitted to it couldn't also be submitted to Fight On!
In fact, I have an interesting proposal for a project for someone, but I'm waiting to hear back from Geoffrey before I say anything.

Well shoot. I just found this thread via the links in another thread and started drooling only to find that the link had been removed. Now I'm sadder than a bone man orphan.  I will take this opportunity to add my voice in saying it would be great to have a irregular Carcosa magazine or even a Fight On! Carcosa themed issue. |
