I just wanted to say that Spellcraft & Swordplay has been a delight. It brought some surprising enthusiasm to our gaming table. I for one, am very glad you gave us this gift, and am always hopeful for future developments.

Yeah, Jason's S&S seems to have fallen "off the radar" somewhat recently on these boards, and I'll confess that I haven't visited his forum as often as I should, but my S&S Boxed Set sits proudly on my shelf next to OD&D and other old school RPGs.

Well, this is as much my fault as anyone's. Real life commitments and a serious lack of fundage to give it the treatment it deserves, have forced me to put Elf Lair Games on the back burner. Tim Brannan continues to work on Eldritch Witchery, and we are still hoping to at least put that out on Lulu in the near future. I have Twelve Parsecs about half done and need to find the time between school, work, and my novel writing to get it straightened out.
But the real issue is funding. I wish to God I had the money to do Elf Lair's products right, with professional art, layout, printing, and distribution. I just...don't. And there's only so much public domain artwork out there. Some day, hopefully, I can get the cash together to do a few books in a professional manner, or find a publisher willing to partner with us to do so, and then Elf Lair can get up and running.
It does my heart good that you guys enjoy S&S so much, though.

Yes, I have it right here on my desk as well, and I've flipped through it quite a bit. It's quite a fine RPG, and I think it could do well with a bit more exposure. Even if folks don't use the whole system as their rules set of choice, there is plenty to cherry pick from the whole.
Cheers, Jeff T.

Having just skimmed S&S recently, I saw the upcoming products in the back and was going to ask about Apotheosis: even though back-burnered, can you reveal anything about your plans for it? Entirely different from S&S, or derived from it? S&S would seem to be easily modified for sword & sorcery style gaming.

You can see a hint of what Apotheosis will look like on my OD&D blog: Wasted Lands-- wastedlandsfantasy.blogspot.com/If you remove demihuman races from The Wasted Lands, and replace them with some of the information from Age of Conan, Carcosa, and the Cthulhu Mythos information from the original Deities & Demigods, that's what Apotheosis will look like. And I *definitely* still want to do Apotheosis...but I want to have about $5,000 or more in the bank when I start it so I can give it a full treatment with professional art, layout, the works, and do a full print run that I can try and get into distribution.

Ah, silly me: I've read that, and looked over the materials posted there, too...just didn't put 2 + 2 together. Well, being impressed with S&S, I hope to see Apotheosis some day. Thanks!

Hey, I might be able to put a playtest group together for 12P if it would help. Have you ever heard of www.kickstarter.com/ I don't know if the old-guard community would react well to it, nor have I ever tried it - but I am interested in the Reign RPG and see they used it recently to success. Any chance of S&S editions at CafePress (who while slightly lower in quality is much more friendly for foreign orders). I'd have bought more for S&S if Lulu would be reasonable about shipping. I keep filling my cart, but paying $80 shipping for $55 worth of material just rhymes wrong - and I know it's no fault of yours. I use Lulu to sell as well, but CafePress is so much friendlier for shipping.

You can get S&S off of Amazon--the shipping is more reasonable, I think. Probably won't go with cafepress b/c of the lower quality you mentioned earlier, and because the options and control are far more limited. Cafepress is just an inferior product overall...

Almost all amazon.com (all that I've tried) availablility through Lulu distribution will not ship to Canada (I wish they'd offer through amazon.ca). I understand your concerns about CafePress (who have by far one of the best customer service departments I've ever dealt with) as they do use lower quality paper (interiors usually 50# instead of Lulu's 80# for example)... But paying 1/3 of the shipping or less than Lulu makes up for a lot! You can usually make more money and sell for less as well - simply call them the economic editions

I'm somewhat surprised that S&S doesn't get more discussion. Obviously, there isn't a a stream of support products coming out, but still....
Ah well, I'm still ramping up for Under the Dying Sun.
