I just called him on his cell, because he's also ducking emails about whether he's DMing this weekend or whether I am.

I just called him on his cell... I just glanced at that and thought it said, "I just called him in his cell." ;D

I copied parts of Philotomy's musings onto a Word doc, so I have some of that material on my hard drive. I feel a little uncomfortable posting so much from Philotomy's site, but if it's down perhaps it's justified. Hope he returns soon!

Thanks Fin, but that part that I am interested in is what was formerly linked from the last: "My adaptation and compilation of the rules for this combat sequence may be found here".

Actually, I do. It's part of my houserules for my OSRIC game: docs.google.com/View?id=dcmsh84t_55fj8k2z4fNote that I may not have all the details, but I think I do. I also added a step - I have my players declare intent prior to rolling initiative - where I think he has just initiative as the first step - so the phases were renumbered. Oh, and after looking, my stuff for "Attacks of Opportunity" and "Changing your mind" are my additions. So his stuff ends when the section "Critical Hits/Fumbles" starts.

I actually PMed him about it the other day (at K&K), and he didn't respond, yet he's been posting at K&K in the meanwhile.
I'm sure Mr. Finch will enlighten us.

I tried to e-mail him but it bounced back undeliverable (the only address I have for him is philotomy at philotomy - com)

Found him! He's just been busy with work, and he let his domain name expire because he was planning on changing hosts, or something like that. He'll be getting the Musings back up, although it didn't sound like it was a "this weekend" type of priority. More importantly, we've got the 21st set up for gaming, after many weekends without. Woohoo!

Hopefully he returns soon before he loses ranking and placement within the search engines. He's been #1 for the "od&d" term on Google for a long time and I would hate to see him drop off.

Here's a pdf of the Musings in booklet form. Just after I put this together Philotomy added a couple of new ones, so sadly it's not up to date.

I did one, too, and gave it to Kesher as a "thank you" gift for the D&D game he runs.
I guess great minds DO think alike!

Berist is wounded and one of his hirelings is dead, so he's open to changing his vote to retreat. The only thing that's nagging him is where the mummies came from. If there's another entry to the monastery, they might have come from afar, if not then (being undead) they might have been hanging out in here waiting. Can we look around and see if we can pick up their tracks before leaving?

Uhh... wrong thread? No, Berist is hunting the mummies that he suspects are responsible for the disappearance of his beloved musings & their esteemed author! Uh... would you believe that it's hard to see whether the "reply" button belongs to the post you want or the one above it when you're viewing the boards on a phone? Sorry 'bout that!

I actually did one as well, but he asked me not to post it publicly. OK fair enough, I've edited my post to remove the pdf link. Seems bizarre to me though since his site is still up in the archives (although admittedly not the most recent version).

He might just want to make sure that when people encounter the Musings, it's the current version. A pdf freezes it into one form, and a lot of people getting the pdf might not bother to go and actually check out the site for the additional material that's been added since.
(I'm worried about Berist. How's the retreat going? Is he badly hurt?)

(Berist is a bad man, unworthy of your concern. The world of Carcosa would be a better place if he were fatally hurt, which doesn't stop his endeavors to prevent this from happening. Retreat has been effected via the expedient of cutting a hole in the ceiling beneath the staircase using the mummies' laser rifles. Being who he is, Berist attempts to pass this cunning bit of dungeoneering off as his own idea.)

Thanks Matt, good point and you're probably right. Lets hope he gets his new site up and running soon. I regularly kept an eye on the old one as I find his writings inspiring.

Matt, have you gotten ahold of Philotomy? He keeps posting a bit, I think K&K(?), so he's alive - just not talking about what happened? I kinda wondered if it's a personal issue that he just doesn't want to talk about, which is why I've not bugged him so much.
(Google has already updated him as an "Account Expired" page...)
