Introduction
Legend tells that the sorcerous city of Athl-Yith was lost in a sandstorm that raged for two whole lunar cycles. Now, several millennia later, a storm of similar magnitude has just swept over the desert of Kteph, uncovering the ancient ruins of a vast city. The Bedouins claim that it is indeed the lost city and adventurers from far and wide are gathering at the site, in hope of uncovering its secrets.
The game will be a traditional hex and dungeon crawl with the players as fortune hunters exploring the lost city. The time period resembles the middle ages and the environs the middle east. Non humans are rare and often monstrous. Magic is scarce. I am drawing inspiration from the tales of H.P. Lovecraft, Jack Vance and Robert E. Howard, among many others.
Die Rolls
We will be using the Hamete Virtual Dice Server. You should begin by registering. If you get a warning concerning the sites certificate, don't worry!
Send the email address to me via PM and I'll add you to the dice log. After I've done this, you should be able to login.
The dice log is like a blog for die rolls. It keeps a long history which makes it easy to refer back to old rolls. Please include your forum name or character name in the message when rolling, to make my life easier.
Rules
The game will be run using Nicolas Dessaux's (snorri) Searchers of the Unknown rules. As they are really bare bones, I'll probably have to establish some house rules, they will be listed here, along with any clarifications:
I'll try to keep changes at a minimum.
Character Creation
Anyone wanting to join the campaign should begin by creating a character. The character sheet will be kept in the signature field (Profile > Modify Profile > Signature) and should look something like this:
If you require some inspiration for your character, you can roll on Nicolas Dessaux's Chainmail Style OD&D Character table. And if you can't come up with a suitable name try Behind the Name's random name generator.
Besides weapons and armor, all characters start with 1-4 ordinary items (rope, shovel, spikes, etc, download the OD&D price list for inspiration). Finally all characters should roll once on this table:
How you describe your character is important and will influence the success of actions in the game. I.e. Karim the Cutpurse is more likely to be successful at thieving than Karl the Cooper. Karl on the other hand would probably be much more successful at anything involving carpentry. Please post a brief description of your character in the PC Roster thread.

Rules
The game will be run using Nicolas Dessaux's (snorri) Searchers of the Unknown rules. As they are really bare bones, I'll probably have to establish some house rules, they will be listed here, along with any clarifications:
- For monsters, HD equals level when rolling to attack or for initiative. This is not explicitly stated in the rules.
- OD&D style initiative is used. Each group rolls a die (1-6) and the group with the highest result goes first.
- Experience is gained for treasure as well. 1 point per gold piece of worth. (1 gold = 10 silver = 100 copper.)
- Bows and slings have unlimited ammunition. But the referee might declare someone out of ammunition if the character has been expending a lot of shots.
- If a character dies, the players next character begins with half the XP of the previous character.
- Fisticuffs and brawling is conducted as normal combat. Damage dealt is 1-4 if unarmed and 1-6 with brassknuckles, platemail gloves, chairs or table legs. Any brawler reduced to zero HP must make a saving throw or fall unconscious. If the saving throw is successful, the brawlers HP is restored, but now the brawler will have to repeat the saving throw each time damage is taken. If the HP is reduced to zero a second time during the brawl, the brawler is dead or dying.
- Those who know arabic can haggle for the price of any ordinary purchase. A successful saving throw, means 25% off the list price. If you buy a bunch of stuff from the same merchant you can haggle for the whole lot in one go.
I'll try to keep changes at a minimum.

Character Creation
Anyone wanting to join the campaign should begin by creating a character. The character sheet will be kept in the signature field (Profile > Modify Profile > Signature) and should look something like this:
Radek the Raider (AC6 MV8 HD1 HP5 #AT1 D1-8 scimitar, D1-6 bow)
Notes: XP 0, GP 0, Horse, Horn, Khat leaves
Notes: XP 0, GP 0, Horse, Horn, Khat leaves

| Roll | Boon |
| 1-3 | 5-30 gold pieces |
| 4-6 | horse or camel |
| 7-8 | lucky amulet |
| 9 | +1 HP for the rest of the game (HDx+1) |
| 10 | +1 level/HD, still begins at 0 experience points |
