Here's a thread to ask miscellaneous rules questions and where I'll post up my "Compleat Combat System" which is (hopefully) entirely by-the-book, that is to say it factors in weapon-speed/size and everything, but it's still simple and elegant (just not quite as simple as improv'd non-Chainmail OD&D combat). Movement is mostly simultaneous, both sides roll for initiative with boni/penalties to DEX if anyone on either side has them). I have all my notes set up and know how it'll work, I just have to type it up 'n' make it pretty. Should be here later this evening.
Sorry it's been a little slow. What can I say, I've always wanted to run a campaign that's as "BtB" as possible. I don't know if that's against the original spirit, but hey, gygax and arneson *did*, imo, have a fairly good sense of how basic gameplay should go and I think it's cool to try to follow it. There's still plenty of room for house-rules and ad hocs - they're required nearly constantly outside of simple combat
We'll start playing soon don't worry. I just wanted to get this out of the way. We also have to finish Character Creation (which'll hopefully happen today - I'll post in there). BTW I don't know what I meant by "less role-playing" in the original pm to Finarvyn. Sometimes I ramble and say silly things. What's D&D without role-playing? I think I just meant I don't particularly care for "heavy white-wolf roleplaying", in which I think I'm with you guys and most of the forum (I *do* like role-playing and complex plots, I'm just more light-hearted, though heck you can do whatever you like with your character I'm not trying to railroad you!
