I have said before that I'm the only Argentinean who ever runs OD&D in these lands. I have been invited to referee OD&D for people who are curios to try it, and I have organized some OD&D one-shots for people interested in getting to know the game.
These are the house-rules that have evolved with 10 or so adventures.

This was the first of such games at a convention where somebody from the con staff took us a table picture:

Zulgyan's OD&D-Demos Houserules
- OD&D LBB, no supplements.
- Characters start at 4th level.
- Ability Scores are rolled 3d6 in order.
- Ability Bonuses:
STR 15: +1 to melee hit and damage if human or dwarf fighting-men.
INT 15: +1 1st level m-u spell
WIS 15: +1 1st level cleric spell
DEX 12: +1 hit with missiles
DEX 13: can fight with 2 weapons effectively.
DEX 15: +1 to move silently (surprice others)
CON 15: +1 HP per HD
CHA 15: a loyal follower, +1 for each point over 15, will join the adventure under your leadership. Loyal followers are 1st Level Fighting-men equiped with leather armour, shield and spear, morale 8.
Generally, the above are reversed when ability score is 6 or lower. - HP rolls at character creation are rerolled on a 1.
- Only human fighting-men (Heroes!) can attack four 1 HD enemies in a round.
- Human magic-users cast an extra 2nd level spell.
- Elves can be fighting-men, magic-users or fighting-wizards (3rd level fighting-men that cast like second level magic-users).
- Hobbits can hide in shadows, though the deadly accuracy with slings is just anecdotical.
- Characters can equip themselves with whatever they can carry from the equipment list plus a horse or pony (of no use in the dungeon anyway). No starting magic items, all must be found during the adventure.
- Magic-users get a spellbook with all 1st and 2nd level spells.
- Magic-users can't memorize two copies of the same spell.
- Clerics cast all spells spontaneously.
- Combat is D&D B/X based.
- All the rest, combat or non-combat, is free-wheeled. Some recurrent methods have evolved with time, though I refrain myself from typing them down. I encourage players to do whatever they want, forgetting about the rules (which they don´t actually know anyway).
- Small weapons and spears in melee attack at -1.
- Pole arms attack at +1 and deal doble damage vs. charge.
- Two-handed swords attack at +2.
- Two weapon fighting rolls 2 dice and keeps the best.
- I use a method that you may find useful.
- Players have this this character sheet and amplified copies of the equipment lists and spell descriptions.
- Dice used: some of each funky type + 40d6 made of wood.
- Behind my screen I have: 3LBB, judges ready ref sheets, AD&D monster manual, adventure/dungeon notes (robots, evil computer and high tech items included!).
