Not sure what you mean by lost everyone. So far, we're basically ok. This thing is lawful-hungry. It's so tough that wacking on it probably annoys it.
I should point out that Do'olnar has one of the lanterns. He has a last-ditch attack that he's consciously not using. Future employment is unlikely if we burn down our benefactor's warehouse.
Were that to occur, we could all end up as slaves ... seriously!

How does learning a language work? Can my character learn/teach a language to one of the other players during our non-adventure times?

Let me see...I know the rulebook has the answer for this.
Ah, here it is. All the Original Skills in the game (Groups I-III) can be learned provided on has a teacher (that usually has to be paid for) and time.
Group I skills take 2 months to learn.
Group II skills take 4 months to learn.
Group III skills take 6 months to learn. Languages are considered to belong to this category.
So there you have it. If you are willing to spend a total of 6 months of downtime teaching someone they can learn a language you know.

Just an observation of relative amounts of posting from Monday to Tuesday. Wow. I'll keep my (obiously not so) humerous observations to myself in the future. lol

Modified my post. Went back and forth on what to use his limited funds to buy. Forgot about the rope.

Since he would see this as relatively low risk, he moved the lowering part forward. Not trying to step on toes. On a positive note, your armor won't get damaged if there is a lurking menace. His plan is to do no more than go down and come up. Without everyone in top form, he would never recommend exploring. That said, if he sees something interesting, he'll come up and follow the fighters to whatever end.

Guys, the next few weeks will be difficult as I am packing to move. Always a high-stress activity, the current economy is making this especially challenging. My apologies if my play is distracted.

Since he's hanging down in the passage with the lantern, how far does he see?

Since he's hanging down in the passage with the lantern, how far does he see? Do'olnar can see the that the tunnel continues for at least 30 feet. Beyond that the level of illumination becomes insufficient to discern any more.

It took me a while to begin thinking Tekumel. We have been masterfully manipulated! ;D Mayhap. As a GM, I have always found player paranoia a great game aid. However, we should be prepared for the worst.

Slowing a bit to see if anyone's going to take his bet or has a better suggestion. A third alternative, of course, is that he'll simply try to kill us. With his clan's wealth and our lack of legal status, we have to trust to his Salarvyani honor.

Everyone. this seems the best point to withdraw before Do'olnar becomes too entertwined with the plot. Chalk it up to my own rigidity or failing. I wish you all much fun.

Suushih, I'm very sorry to hear you're leaving the game. I found your knowledge of Tekumel a huge benefit to the game. Now that I've read Edsen's post about it, I understand why. I didn't want to say anything until I knew more. And I do understand, but you will be missed.

Well, I guess this page is as good as any to contact "god." Being new to OD&DD I haven't found how to contact edsan privately so apologize for this. A friend, one of your players, mentioned that a player had dropped out and I am interested in joining. I have read the background and play-to-date. While I am not that knowledgeable re: EPT, I have played in just about every version over the past 25 years and enjoy it in all its incarnations. Please LMK if I can get into the open slot.

Two Things.
1. Hrahyosh mentioned needing more rope. lots more.
2. Hrahyosh is a Pechani. He would NEVER have left his pay in the hands of a Salarvyani. He would have required at least half in advance. How much was in the bag that the Livyani slave gave us just to come listen? That might have changed things. In any case, he'd want the payment for the first part of the job now that it was done to be willing to let him hold on to the 2nd payment.
I'm sorry, I would have made a stink IC if I had seen anything like the description about them locking up our pay. I just assumed we had our pay in our pockets/packs. Did I miss something? I went back and read the descriptions and saw nothing.

Besides, why would you want to take 300 coins into the Tsuru'um? very easy to loose and heavy as heck. I should know, I worked in a bank. Anyway, Hrahyosh is not present so he can't make is will manifest. Feel free to rise up a stink when the party returns though.
