I really do appreciate all the suggestions. I'll certainly do my best to incorporate all that I can. Yeah, fairies were added because of the outcry of gamers with girls begging for their inclusion. Clearly I released it too early and there are rough spots and mistakes. However, most folk have found the game to be very helpful tool in playing with their children - even if it isn't a completely spelled out system - just enough to play for an hour or so when the kids want to play. I now have many pages of of corrections, feedback and suggestions for the game from proof-readers and from folk who been playing the game. I'm going to re-write it, laying it out using a different program too. All of the fundamentals will be the same, I'll just be clearer about a few things, expand on a few others and add a intro adventure or two as well. So if any of you have corrections, feedback and suggestions please forward them to me asap. The game is OGL and I'd be glad to let other folks develop expansions or more detailed rules if that is what they want from the game. I'd even publish it for them. *But if anyone is an expert in fairies (or at least has little girls at home), please send me your thoughts. I have some feedback from folks playing the game, but I'm rather clueless here myself.

Clearly I released it too early and there are rough spots and mistakes. Oddly enough, that's basically what Gary said about D&D. So you're in pretty good company...

In the RPG field, you have lots of company (including myself)! I once left out a "little" point that basically made the difference between a "playable" and "unplayable" (or at least absurd) combat system. I thought MegaTraveller was big league in the errata department -- until I picked up Marc Miller's Traveller (aka T4).
(Remember the "Murphy's Rules" feature in The Space Gamer magazine? ;D)

*UPDATE* Back in October, I was really excited about releasing, “Kids, Castles & Caves,” the game I have been playing with my children for a few years now. But it seems I was a little too excited and released it before many things about it had been perfected.
"Kids, Castles & Caves" has now been completely revised and even expanded in some areas. Now, I am not just excited to release it - I am proud to of what KC&C has become!
If you have already purchased the game, please return to the site where you bought it and download the revised version. I really hope you will love it as much as my boys and I do!

RPGNOW.com is supposed to send out an email to all the folks who have purchased the pdf. I filled out that form too, but I haven't heard anyone says they got one.

I followed the RPGNOW link from the original post, thinking that I probably used that link to directly go to the product page when I bought it the first time. www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=58575It told me that I had already purchased this product so I simply went to my "account" section and downloaded the update. Never got an e-mail about the update, however....

Hey, John.
I haven't ever gotten an email notification, either. However, I did, just like Fin, go to my acct. and download the new file. It looks great! I apologize that I never got my edits to you, but RL took over.
Anyhow, I can't wait to read it; I'll post my impressions next week some time. Kudos to you for keeping at it!
Aaron

Mr. Adams you don't happen to have any pre-generated adventures do you? Yea I am lazy, but I am in the military serving over seas and will be using maptools to play with my kids on-line. So I need as little preparation as possible.

I am working with Jimm Johnson's kids game and combining it with this one so that we will have a good, old-school game for kids in the coming months, but it will be later in 2012.

I'm play-testing this weekend again, Larry Moore's (DwD Studios) very soon to be released "Bare Bones Fantasy" system which includes both a random dungeon generator and an adventure generator. (each on 1-side of a sheet) The BBF system uses their own "d00 lite" mechanic which is quite simple, but the dungeon and adventure generators would be useful in any generic fantasy genre game. bravehalfling.com/page6.htmlSo much good stuff coming out! And to think my Delving Deeper Box Set should be arriving so soon I can almost feel it.... ;D ;D ;D

Thread resurrection...
How does KC&C compare to Dagger RPG?

Dagger RPG is Jimm Johnson's, simple way to play classic (basic D&D)with little kids (5+) all placed on the back of a gamemaster's screen. It uses all the regular D&D terms and mechanics. It requires an adult or much older kid to run the game.
My original kids game only uses a d6 and is written for a bit older kids to read and play themselves.
