Kate frowns. "I wonder if this is a recent phenomenon, or if this cave has always had some undead. As far as I know, undead haven't been a problem around here. Makes me curious." She'll help Flynn with the sarcophaguseseses, sword ready in case something wakes up grabby.
Calvin goes up to tap the wall where the flower is...and the wall remains flat.
A tongue of stone licks out towards his ear from the left; Kate tries to chop it away, but her reflexes are a little too slow. Calvin feels the wet stone against his face, and then the tendril slips back into the wall.
(DM: Sorry for the delay on that, I just got caught up with other things.)
The party moves out of the room, leaving the mummies and their chestplates and the unopened sarcophagi, and returns to the hall. Across from them is another door similar to the one they just exited; to the left, the vault door at the end of the hall, to the right, the way they came.
Ivan moves in to open the door, with Kate and Lakelyn flanking him to either side, bows at the ready. This door is tightly pressed into its frame, but it moves aside at Ivan's mighty push.
It swings open into a room much like the one you just left, with stacked sarcophagi along the walls, except that the back wall is mostly bare. Against it stands a case of salted glass, in which a giant, dessicated octopoid, with a plaque like the one the mummies in the room across the hall were wearing, sits sunken upon the white crystals. It does not appear to be moving, and its eyes are closed, but it does seem to be intact. Only the top half of it is visible over the glass.

"Allow me," Flynn says, drawing his tools from his belt pouch and stepping into the room. He begins searching for any hidden traps or dangers in the room, and keeps an eye open for any movement from the mummified remains.
Tharkus also readies his spear, and shield, with holy symbol close at hand.
Ernest Gary Gygax 1938 - 2008 "How many people could say that they impacted the lives of millions without bloodshed, political power or a global marketing machine - just a small game of gelatinous cubes, strange dice and 10' corridors? Gary did it just like this, and he did it out of his humble game room in Wisconsin. The context makes it all the more remarkable." - Melan
The party stands at the ready while Flynn goes in to explore the room with the dessicated octopus thing. The thief creeps in, looking about. The sarcophagi and in fact the entire room are very similar to the one they just left, save for the back wall, which is bare except for the strange glass tank full of salt.
Gus peers back across the hall (DM: I guess the door is still open) and looks into the room they left. It is quiet and there does not seem to be anything else happening there.
(DM: Random encounters...clatter clatter...)
Flynn reaches the back wall and does not seem to find much there either. The octopus-thing has not yet moved; it smells wretched, like a rotten seafood dinner left out during the rainy season on the quays of Sarmis.
As Flynn calls out, the group moves forward to investigate the sarcophagi.
As the group moves forward into the room, Flynn's sharp ears here something, and he spins around. A single, baleful eye is staring at him out of the tank, salty and green, as the tentacles lurch forward. The elf spots it too, and immediately buries an arrow directly in that very eye, sending jelly leaking into the salt all around the creature as an oddly low-pitched sussuration fills the room.
(DM: What is it with Lakelyn and Kate and the arrows? Another natural 20, 11 points of damage - gawlly! Not enough to kill this bad boy though...)
Blinded though it is, the monster is huge, easily the size of two horses, and it rises out of the salt, flailing blindly with its tentacles. What do you do?
