I've seen a little of the Conan Roleplaying Game published by TSR, I printed out the rules and leafed through them awhile back, but what's the general consensus on it? Is it good?
How about the later Conan Unchained modules? Were they made for play with the RPG or with Basic/AD&D?

I've owned a copy of TSR's Conan RPG for decades (bought it new, I think, but my memory may be wrong on this) but have hardly ever actually played it. Folks I've talked to say it's a great system, and it inspired the ZeFRS clone system (which can be downloaded here). The system had three official modules that I know of -- Conan the Buccaneer, Conan the Mercenary, and Conan Triumphant -- and I own all but have played none. The whole thing looks pretty solid if you like a skill-based system, but I prefer a class-based system so I tend to default to OD&D to run my Conan games. Conan Unchained and Conan Against the Darkness were both totally separate from the Conan RPG and were written for AD&D, so they should be compatible (or easy to convert) with pretty much all of the old editions and/or the clones.

If someone wants a quick summary of the Conan/ZeFRS rules, sample characters and one adventure : I've published a playable 20-page quickstart for ZeFRS, both in the French & English language. I'm reintroducing some background (stuff written by Mr Howard about that Cimmerian barbarian). Here's the English-language version : www.drivethrurpg.com/product/280711/ZeFRS--Cimmerian-QuickstartI'm working on a full translation of ZeFRS into French, including more Howardian stuff (but I won't have time to re-translate back into English).

Now I'm a publisher, I'll spam you every other year ! (or something)
Conan / ZeFRS is a very cool game, by the way.
An easy & intuitive system with a lovely coloured resolution chart (I love them, I'm also working on the 4C System).

I converted the Conan the Buccaneer to my OD&D Hack and ran it as the first adventure ever for my OD&D Age of Conan game, like 6 years ago or something, now. It's fun, but it suffers from 1980s Conan Comic/D&D-itis. That is, it's a veritable zoo of monsters, which kind of goes against what you see in most Conan yarns. I converted 95% of the monsters into "degenerate man-things" to keep it more in line with a Howardian tone, and it worked out well. I can also vouch that the TSR Conan game is a fun system. I was one of the team originally involved with ZeFRS.

Recently a game called Savage Swords & Sorcery surfaced on Amazon. It is written by Zeb Cook and uses ZeFRS as its core. Is there anyone who read it and can tell us if it's worth having?
