You quietly make haste in the opposite direction and live to see another day...
Continuing on the road to the City State, one day passes uneventfully and the 3rd day of travel, close to the city, you surprise a band of men. 12 are in armor with weaponry and one is in robes with a staff. They are traveling away from the city (towards you). You hear their horses. You have the option of meeting them or slinking into the woods along the road.

"I see no reason to draw this band's attention, especially as we are only a few, and with any luck they are about to be eaten by three-headed dragons. We should be discrete, let them pass, and continue on our way once they are out of earshot."

If it remains to be said, the company hides in the underbrush well to the side of the road and waits for the mounted company to pass. If possible, Quasmus tries to spy any identifying details of the enrobed individual; perhaps he wears some sign or sigil of his affiliation.

Ahhh! The City of the Invincible Overlord at last! Let's make a pub appearance (nearest one will do) to quench thirst and to put out adventurer feelers. I presume no one here is either running from someone or chasing after someone - a rare state of affairs in this city, I'll wager. Also, surely someone in the city will know the to do regards that shocking sword, offers the Lobe? And, keep that ape close; someone might to steal him; he's a good heavy for the one that bound him.

Quasmus finds himself humming along for a moment ( ~ bum-bum-budump,badump-badump ~ ) before wondering aloud if there are, in fact, any decent watering-holes on By-Water street. By "decent" he means where can we stop to wet our whistle and eat a plate of cheeses unperturbed while we discuss where to dispose of, ahem leverage, our recent and likely cursed haul of subterranean baubles, gewgaws, and d**ned artifacts. "Dragging this with us any farther is simply out of the question," Quasmus whispers sotto voce; "dispensing of it here in The City is our best hope for recovering from it what value we can. I'm speaking here of the s-w-o-r-d and the other t-h-i-n-g shaped like a p-i-s-s-p-o-t, I mean surely the thing can be valued at um lots of gold pieces." Quasmus looks around nervously for any sign of impending harpies, stampeding undead or over-large rodents. "Better make it quick, too!"
Oh sorry, I though we came in the great gate for some reason. Let me read up the informational post again and make another selectiojn
The original entrance back at the start of the campaign was through the Great Gate. All subsequent exit and entry has been via the Gate of the Gods which opens on to the start of the Old South Road, leading to Bier and then points south. The Great Gate would lead to the Rorystone Road and points north.
"'The Seahawk' has a nice ring to it, and if it's already a known factor, let's try there."
I assume that Raizenbrayne is by now privy to the party's collected wisdom in the People and Places thread. He'll want to check out this Sorcerer's Supply House a couple of blocks down the street when there's time.
