Alright, I have been looking back on my childhood when I would occasionally read those old Choose Your Own Adventure game books and I've also been reading about solitaire games, which were actually a lot more common in the 1970's and 1980's than they are today (Tunnels & Trolls was famous for it, while D&D and Boot Hill had a few published as well) and I sort of want to get in on that racket.
Basically, I am envisioning an interactive online "solitaire" campaign in the vein of an old-school Choose Your Own Adventure book but also incorporating the mechanics of the game it is based off of using an online dice roller and of course, voting from the readers to decide what actions will be taken and what route the story takes.
I can host these types of solitaire games either on this forum or over at Archive Of Our Own (a fan fiction and writing website) as I currently have an AO3 account (my username is KidVid712) but so far I have only got the first two chapters of a regular story BUT I can easily accommodate these solitaire campaigns.
To simulate the feeling of open-ended sandbox play and the lethality of old-school RPG's, much of the story will be written either in a stream-of-conscious sort of manner or at most, a loosely outlined and adaptable storyline, and player death will be very much a possibility based on the actions and choices made by the readers.
Unlike the traditional CYOA novels, I will have a voting system to determine the PC's choice for the next chapter and the stories will be updated weekly or bi-weekly depending on the amount of interest and votes made.
I intend to focus mainly on OD&D and similar OSR games, but I also want to do solitaire campaigns/CYOA's for Boot Hill, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Vampire: The Masquerade, RECON, Big Eyes Small Mouth, Pathfinder, etc.
Who here would be interested in such a general concept?
