The party leaves the fort and heads westward. You journey takes abouy a day and a half and by late afternoon there are signs advertising a great festival in Specularum. As you travel down the road for another thirty minutes you see Specularum a port town and also a waystation for travelers who will cross the hills to the northwest and journey into the desert.
As you approach the gate is open. A few soldiers with spears lounge near the entrence. They wear Tabards of blue and red with the symbol of a ship on the front. Beyond the gate is a narrow muddy street. It is choked with people. Most dress in their best clothes. Drums, whistles, singing, and some jugglers perform.
The guards see you and say " halt. If you wish to enter the tax is 8 silvers a piece. All weapons other then daggers must be piecebound. Unbound weapons are fined, murder by unbound weapons is punishable by loss of property and or death of the murderer. Interfering with the duke men is prison. Oh an treason is really nice it gets a person a day of slow torture and then we draw and quarter you, ha ha ha. So please enjoy the festival and our town"
The view of the port town is so different from his mountain home, the dwarf binds his weapons and pays the toll. Later Thoradin would say, it was probably the amount of wondrous sights that made him follow Rendel's example so quickly.

Airik grimaced at the guards laughing about torture. He accepted ribbons to tie around his weapons, but while tying them off asked, "What if we're attacked? Can we break the peace knots to fight in self-defense?"
The guard says "if you get attacked call for assistance from the guards. Otherwise be prepared for lots of questions and fines and punishments from us. "
As the first three of you enter the city , with regards to the toll, the guard puts 5 of the 8 silver in a bowl and puts the remaining three in his pocket.
Father mayhem pays the free and enters the city, i made the roll and the henchmen stayed at the fort.
Beyond the gate swirls a crowd of people Acrobats, knife throwers and minstrels performs as crowd listen and observe. The smell of sewage, grilled meats, bread, sweat and wine mingle in this strange odor
Waiting for kynor and ameldor

Airik paid, but he made a point of saying in front of the guards, "I'm not liking what I see of this city so far..."
Despite the crowds, Airik tried to keep their group together as they moved further into the city. "I didn't trust the guards enough to ask, but we need to find out where a good inn is, and if the Cult of Sargon has done anything public here in Specularum yet. I was thinking we might check out a temple, if we can find one. We might get an impartial review of the local inns, but more importantly the clergy would be most concerned about rival cults springing up. Maybe we can even get paid for bringing them that information, if they didn't already know about the cult..."
Suddenly the crowd goes silent for a second as the music stops and changes to bells and chanting. Several people move off the main highway. A boy next to you Ameldor says " the procession is coming"
Ahead is a sedan chair borne of the shoulders of acolytes and cleric is coming down the main road in town in a parade fashion
The procession after a minute stops moving. Three men are now seen arguing. A general hush of silence falls on the crowd and the crowd moves away. Two men on small and plump and the other tall and lean are arguing with the lead bearer of the sedan.
The small man says to the procession leader "bald headed fool do you torenescu think you own the street? There is space for all of us without your ape like behavior!"
The lead bearer comtemptuously waves a rod in the small man's face " out of the way of the procession of Lucie, Radu rabble!"
The tall man spits on the statue of lucor an says "that old fool you make me laugh? Hahaha "
The lead bearer strikes the tall man with the rod knocking him down into the dirty, muddy street. The smaller man draws a concealed blade
Instinctively, Thoradin grips his axe, but the bindings stop him and remind him of the strange customs of the people of this town. "They are both right, in their own way, aren't they? There was no apparent need to start this dispute", the dwarf mumbles and grimly watches the scene unfold further.
Father mayhem says nothing and waits to see what happens.
The arguments continue back and forth. The small helps up his tall friend to his feet and you can see the tall man has a nice bruise to his face. Eventually a couple of men in green livery move through the crowd along with a couple.of guards. They settle the argument and the two men are arrested and the crowd is also pacified. At this point the procession starts to move down the main thoroughfare passing by your group

Arrested for a punch to the face? Airik was not liking this city...
But, he was awful curious who the people in the green livery were, and what their connection to the guards were. "Anyone have a theory about who those men in green were?" he asked his compatriots. "Let's follow them."
"I suppose we can at least be sure that the men in green work with the guard. And apparently they were intent on settling this affair without violence, so... maybe they are some kind of clergy-men?" says Thoradin and pats his beard in thought. He squints his eyes, tries to get a better look at the men in green, looking for insignia and weapons.
The symbols on the green men livery is a heraldry and not religious. The heraldry is a shield split into to parts. The top half is a sea creature with a wolf's head. The bottom half is a symbol of the scale (accounting scale or justice scale)
The procession turns west and follows the main road in the south end district. The green men follow the procession acting as guards to the clerics. The men have clubs that are piecebound.
Still following or asking questions?

The progression heads to the dock district. You do pass shops, several taverns and a couple of inns that look full. Most ofthe inns stables have horses in them and one has a caravan wagon parked in front of the stables.
One of the town's people says " you are not from around here well the procession is dedicated to one of the town's founder and a cleric named lucor. His statue is floating in the harbor. To honor lucor, every year the great church of karameikos sends the clerics. However, organizing , providing security and leading the procession is a noble lady from one of the governering house. This year is Lady Magda of house Torenscu. "
Another townie rolls his eyes and adds " however if it was not for the cursed Vorlori family, those upstarts, who butted in and provided security was totally unnecessary. You know the men in the green tabards."

If Airik overheard this about the Volori's mercenaries, he would grow more concerned about where they were taking the people who were spirited away. He was still looking ahead for buildings of interest they might be heading towards.
"Isn't the wilderness crowded with creatures as well? Nah, the humans have a way to make it feel more crowded than it needs to be, if you ask me. Everyone running in their own direction every day, it feels more crowded. They run into each other too often."
