Holy cow: wizkids.com/heroclix/star-trek-heroclix-away-team/It looks like they are going all out with all the iconic "Fan favorites" in one big set: Shirtless Sulu with a rapier, the Orion slave girl, Nurse Chapel, Kirk doing a two-handed Kirk-Fu punch, the Gorn... building my own little Klingon Death Squad will be fun.

I have the feeling all my straight nerd friends are going to be fighting over the Orion dancing girl, while all of my gay nerd friends are going to be battling tooth and nail for shirtless Sulu. It could get ugly...

It could get ugly... I know enough gay people to know that gay nerds will also fight tooth-and-nail over the Orion slave girl figure — they seem to have a thing for old-school actresses in sexy costumes (e.g. Julie Newmar). d**n, this is a fine figure... ...and this figure can crush a man's fingers with her deadly abs of steel! But as for the actual figurines... Its a d**n shame its HeroClix — All the clear details and smooth, even coloring will vanish in the final product. If you remember MageKnights, you know this to be true!

HeroClix are weirdly inconsistent in their quality: Some look great and some are really blobbish and cheap-looking. They seem to have gotten better since NECA took over. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures I recently bought on a stupid lark actually looked really good. I think a lot of it has to do with how short a leash the licence-holder holds.

If you don't like HeroClix, you can try Victory Force Miniatures. These may scale better with your other miniatures. I especially like the Red Shirts
