Do the rituals look like they can be reenacted by us? If so, 'Brayne will try to mimic them to see if they trigger any magic in the base. Barring that, he'll just try to push the statue around or knock it over to see if the magic is coming from beneath it.
Skeggi will help Brayne, but also is unable to find any secret mechanism. The statue does not seem to move in any way. Perhaps we just need to break it? Do you think the magic is the statue itself or something inside?
Looping the rope around, you haul and pull the statue off the base. That reveals a lever that must have been connected to something in the statue. Moving the lever springs a block in the side of the base out. Inside a cubby is a mace.
The door to the South suddenly opens and four robed men stream in.
Gah, I should have pinged the other players awhile ago. I'm afraid we have lost momentum here...
In the meantime, I'm just going to assume some action to keep things going...
The robed men gain initiative and charge
Robed man attacks Eltazar (10 miss) Robed man attacks Fitz (3 miss) Robed man attacks Skeggi (7 miss)
Eltazar attacks robed man (11 miss) Fitz attacks robed man (16 hit for 1 damage) and wounds the man Skeggi attacks robed man (20 hit for 5 damage) and wounds the man Brayne throws a dagger at the first robed man (1 miss) Iago fires his crossbow at a robed man (6 miss) Malone steps in and strikes the first robed man (13 just barely misses)
After this no more missile fire...
Any other actions from Quasmus, Malone, or Tlamec?
Ok, I'm going to assume Tlamec is holding back. I added Malone's attack above.
The following round the PCs win initiative, I'll assume everyone in melee presses the attack:
Eltazar attacks 1st robed man (12 miss) Fitz attacks 2nd robed man (18 hit for 1 damage) Skeggi attacks 3rd robed man (15 hit for 6 damage) and drops the robed man Malone steps in and strikes the 1st robed man (11 miss) Brayne charges into the fray and attacks the 2nd robed man (15 hit for 6 damage) and drops him. Tlamec charges into the fray and attacks the 1st robed man (2 miss)
If possible, I'd like to maneuver around behind the robed men to attempt to strike silently from behind. If this is impossible given the circumstances, then I'll load and fire my crossbow again.
Ok, you can spend this round sneaking around behind the statue. I will rule hide in shadows is more important than move silently, 20% (10% plus 10% as a halfling). You get around the statue, but the remaining robed man spots your movement (roll of 55). You may strike normally next round, or shoot your crossbow if an opening presents.
Any other action this round before the remaining robed man acts?
