I always love to see John Carter, in books or movies or comics.
I'm really bummed about the DYNAMITE comic series in that I could never quite figure out which books are supposed to be in what order, so I had that "paralysis by analysis" problem and have ordered none. The artwork looked cool, too.

The collections that I read (All from the first few years, I haven't read any of their recent ones where they bundle poor Dejah up in the single ugliest comic-book costume of all time) were dumb, fun pulp that could pretty much be read in any order. Not that there's anything wrong with dumb, fun pulp (If I thought otherwise half of my library and three-quarters of my DVDs would be missing. Heck, I'm reading a Lin Carter book right now.).

I have a bad feeling about this. Brian Wood was by far the absolute worst writer to ever write CONAN, by Dark Horse. I scarcely believe that he ever read a Robert E. Howard story, because when he put his personal stamp on our favorite barbarian, the readers suffered. I fear the same could result with his treatment of Burroughs, but who knows, maybe he learned something from the experience and has committed to reading and studying ERB the way he should have read and studied REH.

It's called JOHN CARTER: THE END and is about hs final battle in the far future. It starts with JC & Dejah in self-imposed exile on Titan, mourning the death of Carthoris. Has a very "1990's grim & gritty" vibe. I'll pick up the first issue at least. dynamite.com/htmlfiles/viewProduct.html?PRO=C72513025569301011
