Has anyone adapted the wilderness rules to exploring a city ( or city ruins) yet, using different districts/quarters and landmarks ?

Although it's not exactly built on the wilderness rules, you might find something of an implementation of an "urbancrawl" (the book's term, though applied only to situations of movement under different kinds of duress) in Vornheim: The Complete City Kit by Zak S., which also promises techniques that can be extrapolated to cities of one's own devising.

Vornheim is indeed clever and useful. I'm a little surprised there are not more post-Vornheim attempts at urbancrawl products.
