Sean finds it a little difficult to get around while injured but someones got to get food for the boys during recovery. Sean sits on a bench on the street in front of the Lexington Hotel. This gives him the best view of the main entrance to the bank. The Express couriers appeared on Friday at 8:00 AM with 2 cars. 2 armed guards in the front car. 4 in the rear. 6 revolvers, 2 shot guns in view. 2 guards carried several money bags into the bank. 4 took positions to guard them on the outside only. The 4 did not enter the bank...
Tommy, Jimmy and Sean recover in their respective apartments. They take their meals together, play cards and discuss "business." Everyone is recovering fine when...
On Saturday, April 10th, 1920 at 10 PM The phone in Tommy's apartment rings. When Tommy picks it up, it's one of O'Banion's Thugs. The thug states in a irish accent, "O'Banion wants to no where the ell ave you guys been? Der's a job that needs doin and he wants you doin it. Get your arses to Harrigan's at Midnight." He then hangs up...
Sean: roll an observation check

While Sean was sitting on the bench in front of the Lexington Hotel he noted numerous thugs and goons coming and going from the premise. Fancy cars park out front and hot dames accompany flashy looking gangsters. On more then one occasion you see a gun in someones possession. The police walk by but never seem to go in...
Tommy, Jimmy and Sean get cleaned up and head down to Harrigan's for Midnight. Saturday night the joint is in full swing. Loud, smokey and smelling of beer. The long table in front of the bar is occupied by O'Banion and 15-20 of his crew. The are another 25-30 patrons.
O'Banion waves you over as you enter with his typical wicked smile. O'Banion says, DOB: "Eh, boys. You don't look worse for wear. Nice job on those Torio goons! OK. Gotta job for you boys. Torio's got a hold on protection in the area. We intend to take it from him. You boys are gonna convince some businesses to come under our protection as opposed to Torio. With that said. Should you find any of Torio's goons making pickups, feel free to relieve them of their collections. Know what I mean!?"

I'm sure you're aware that this activity may cause some issues on your end. These businesses switching sides will cause some retaliation, but I guess you and Torio can discuss how to divide up the town when the time comes....Which places did you have in mind?" Tommy reply's.

O'Banion motions to his henchman "Fingers" O'Mally who walks over and gives Tommy a piece of paper. On it is a list of businesses on the block 4 of the map. Fingers motions for Sean and Jimmy to listen in, FOM: "Forget about the Lexington and Millers Trucking. There both owned Torio. Keep your eye on Millers too. That's how Torio's lacky, Capone, moves their booze around. We're gonna deal with that when the time comes. For now, focus on the businesses on the list. Keep me informed on your progress.

Jimmy says JB: "Should we take different locations or go as a group?" "I vote group, not sure how this is going to go, let's just walk around the block together. We'll start at Fanucci's, go up to Hessel's, Pitzer's, Stevenson's and around. This block becoming O'Banion's make sense, territory wise, I'm sure the shopkeepers will see it that way too. If we are in a group, we'll have more eyes to spot Torio's men if they're about." Tommy suggests. As they walk out and around to the first shop, Tommy gives Jimmy big smiles as they listen to Sean's Bank reconnaissance. "This ambitious enough for you cousin? So, when do you guys want to do this?"

Jimmy listens to Sean's information then say's, JB: "would be a source of some serious dough. We'll need some serious fire power. I don't think 3 45's will be enough. I'm thinking a heavier caliber. More rounds. I'd feel comfortable with Thompson's, a good rifle or a B.A.R. I used a B.A.R. in France. It fires heavy rounds very fast. That would take care of things if we need to. You're also talkin 6 armed guards. We`re out numbered 2 to 1. We`d need to ambush, move fast, over whelm...know what I mean?"
It's now Sunday morning at 1 AM. You'll have to wait till Monday (April 12th) to start to discuss collections with the block. Also, collection days is usually Friday, not Monday. Businesses have already paid on Friday...

"Maybe the money we earn from this job will help us get a bigger arsenal. I wouldn't mind a shotgun. But even still, I think our biggest weapon will need to be surprise and a quick well executed plan." Sean heads back to his room to grab some shuteye and get a fresh start the next morning on making collections

Businesses have already paid on Friday... Monday(April 12th), Velma's, Lunch: Tommy spit-balls some ideas on approach, "If we discuss the take-over with the businesses today, just explain that on Friday, they are paying us and not them, what kind of Blow-Back do you think we should expect? Maybe nothing until that collection boy comes around. Maybe the word gets out before then and a crew comes around? Maybe someone knocks on our apartment door with dynamite? Or.....we could just wait until Friday, find the collection goon beginning to do his job, beat him, to it? That would give us the week for other affairs." Tommy sips his coffee.

Jimmy eats his lunch then says JB: "we either gotta figure out the pick up time or we have to be on the look out all day for the goon coming around. One of the businesses could tell us the usual time he expects to see the bag man. I was also thinking, maybe we follow the bag man around the neighborhood to places not in the area O'Banion is looking at. Then we rob him when he's done all his pickups. Whata ya think of that?" Jimmy goes on to say JB: "O'Mally mentioned Miller's Trucking as being a Torio operation? What kind of operation. We should take a look..."

Sean: "I definitely like the idea of robbing the Torio bagman after he's made other collections. Then we can let the shopkeepers know Torio's mob has been replaced. O'Banion will have to know there could be some attempt at paybacks, but better to deal with that after we've made the collections.
He also mentioned the Lexington as being part of Torio's operation. I must say I've seen quite a few Torio connected goons going in and out of there. I bet we could follow a few mugs from that locale or at least keep our eyes and ears open around there and learn a lot."

Ref: What are you plans for the week of April 12th, 1920? What do you do first? "Take the bagman, bagmen, works for me. Introducing ourselves first is the part I'm not sure about. Telling these businesses who we are and then telling them to make their payments to Torio as scheduled makes no sense. We could just say hello, we're with O'Banion, how's business, see ya around. Anyway, I'm all for checking into Torio's dealings at the other places until then, maybe we can become familiar with some faces, help us spot the bagman easier." Tommy agrees. Checking his watch, "Let's head around the block and say hello, have dinner, some drinks and go trucking."

This week Sean plans to hang around the Lexington Hotel, grab some drinks, coffee, or food there from time to time while keeping his eyes and ears open hoping to scout out when the Torio bagman might be making his rounds or any other useful information. At some point in the week when Jimmy and Tommy are agreeable to go to the businesses and introduce ourselves Sean will do that.
On Friday if possible Sean will follow the Torio bagman and then try and relieve him of his holdings while informing him that he won't be needing to collect anymore from those businesses.

Sean finishes lunch then begins his surveillance of the Lexington Hotel. The lobby (see close up map) has a big fountain in the center, phone booth in the NW corner, cafe tables along the W wall, couches along the windows on the N wall. Coffee is served in the lobby. News papers are also available...
Sean: roll for observation.
Tommy and Jimmy walk block 4 and meet the business owners. The owners are surprised and skeptical at the "offer" of changing "protection." Most reiterate that the already pay Torio. Fanucci's states he'll believe it when he see's it...
Pitzers is run by an old German with a strong accent. Not the kind of guy 2 veterans want to debate with, under the circumstances. He is friendly and admits to paying 20 per week to Torio. He say's "make it $15 and i'll have no problem at all!" He looks around conspicuously the says "You know, I know stuff. I know people. I hear things. I have a lot to say to the right people..."
The big day will be Friday...

"With the fact that you "Know" things, I'm sure Mr. O'Banion would have no problem with $15. What time does your bagman usually arrive on Friday? Anyways, have you heard anything on the streets lately?" Tommy pulls out $3 from his pocket and passes it to Mr. Pitzer after their conversation and then bids him farewell. Tommy wants to also check out the empty storefront a block up.

Pitzer nods his head and say's "then I have no problem changing protection. IF, you can assure me Torio's dogs won't come after me(?). Pitzer points at the Chicago Tribune (newspaper) and says "I'm sure you've heard about the shooting by the bookies? Torio's goons have been asking about it. 4 of Torio's man died at the hands of, so they say, O'Banions men. They don't know for sure but they suspect O'Banion is making a move on the Ward. Everybody knows that Ward boss Harrigan is in bed with O'Banion and ordered the expansion...or so I hear."
Pitzer continues "Torio's man is Jake GUZIK. Big fat sweaty fella. He comes here around 3 PM on Friday's He has a lot of pickups so I'm down on the list a bit. He probably starts around 9-10 AM from the Four Deuces. It's a speakeasy with a brothel on top. Does a lot of business for Torio.
Tommy and Jimmy leave Pitzer's and Jimmy says "He wasn't lying. The kraut knows a lot of stuff!" Tommy and Jimmy arrive at the empty store front and see it's for lease. Jimmy looks at you and say "might make a good base of operations one day. Booze, gambling, heists..."

It's now around 1:30 PM and you are walking across Michigan Way towards Broad Street to the entrance of the G C Hurley's Five and Dime. As you pass the rear of Millers Trucking you see the large double doors for the trucks is partially open. Jimmy nudges you and says JB: "did you see that truck loaded with beer barrels? (You did not) There's more than one truck in there too. This must be where Torio stores and moves his beer for the local speaks! Miller Brothers. I see their trucks around.

Sean spends the day (Monday, April 12th, 2015) sitting in the lobby of the Lexington observing activity. Sean overhears a conversation where someone say's "Mr. Torio." Sean looks over and sees a fat male, clean shaven, sweaty appearance wearing a light coloured suit and carrying a brown leather cash wallet. The wallet is to large to be carried in a pocket. The male say's his goodbyes then turns to leave. Another unidentified male says "Jake, tell Mr. Torio i'll drop by tomorrow afternoon. Jake replies "OK, i'll let him know. I'm sure he'll rest easy knowing you'll be there." (laughing) The other male waves his hand and say "Ahh, get outta here, Jake." Jake then walks out of the hotel...slowly...

They try and not look conspicuous while watching Miller's. Tommy realizes Torio could have eyes at the 5 & Dime as well. They buy some smokes, ground coffee and bacon, wink at the ladies and head back to their apartment. Eventually, they will meet with Sean this day, for dinner or drinks to share information.

Tommy and Jimmy return to Tommy's apartment to get dinner and drinks. They wait for Sean to return from the Lexington Hotel. Jimmy says JB: "Store front would make a nice "business. Not sure if we know how to run one though. I'm sure it's not just serving booze. We need to get some dough to buy more fire power. If things heat up, we'll need to be able to deal with Torio's goons. Also, if we intend to do something about the bank, we'll definitely need something more powerful. Those guards look like they mean business. Not sure they'll just give it up...i'd like to do it without shots being fired. If possible..."

OOC: It says "Spear's Building Entrance" next to the empty storefront. Would there be apartments above the empty storefront then? If there is, the next day, Tommy will look into renting it. We could also talk to the guy(at Velma's,in charge of O'Banion's muscle) Sean spoke to about borrowing a Thompson Machinegun. We also need to network more. Someone friendly at the Newspaper(a photographer/journalist), maybe an Irish Cop who don't like Torio, maybe a blackmarket merchant(pawnshop owner). These resources would make planning jobs easier.

Sean brings Tommy and Jimmy up to date about Jake the bag man... While having drinks with James and Sean, Tommy suggests "we could ask Fingers for some firepower. Think he'll go for it if we tell him we believe Torio's goons are stalking us? If he does, what should we ask for, a BAR, a Tommygun, both? Anyways, the sooner we do the bank thing after we get the guns the better. Next day maybe. My other idea was to USE a journalist to take some attention off us and put it somewhere else. Maybe some crooked Prohibition officers, maybe a booze distributing Trucking company. If you guys got any story we can use to bait a news-guy, let me know. There's also a pawnshop in town who could provide or purchase necessary items should we be in the market, let me know if any necessary items grace your presence throughout the day. Last but not least, I'm in the market for a ride if you should see any likely candidates. Maybe we should take the train out of town for a stop or two and then find something to drive back."
