So yesterday I picked up a 1st Edition World of Greyhawk boxed set and a D&D Rules Cyclopedia from a friend of mine that does a lot of resale (flea markets, estate sales, etc.). The Greyhawk box itself is kinda beat up, but the books and map are pristine, and the Cyclopedia has light, but normal cover wear. Needless to say, I'm quite ecstatic about my purchase, especially since I paid $27 for the bundle. And he says he has more he wants me to look at ! What types of gamey things have you guys recently purchased that have made you happy?

I got Deadlands Noir (Savage Worlds) for my birthday, which I'm really enjoying. Still loving AS&SH box set too.

My recent non-PDF purchases have been lacking in OSR 'street cred': the Ravenloft Forbidden Lore box (with Tarokka and dice) and the Ravenloft Art of Talor Dunning (with Weathermay sketch and autograph!). I'm currently lurking on the 'bay watching for LotFP, Ravenloft and Hackmaster 4e stuff. I'm always poking for a reissued box set of the OD&D rules... hopefully for retail price or under...

I finally own the Gangbusters rulebook, purchased at GaryCon for $6! (On the other end of the hall, someone was trying to sell the same book for $25)

Purchased The Black Monastery from the frogs last week. First physical book I have bought in quite some time. Picked up some pdf DCC mini adventures from purple duck? Or some such, off the Paizo website.

Last week I bought the Ars Magica 5 core rule-book and the Realm of Faeries supplement.
Around 6 months ago I splurged on a bunch of AD&D first ed books. PHB, DMG, MM 1&2, FF, Dungeoneer's Survival, Wilderness Survival, and GH boxed set. I actually received 2 or 3 as a gift then bought the rest.
Both of the above left me ecstatic.

A copy of The Abduction of Good King Despot arrived for me a couple of weeks ago. I've had an ongoing search running on eBay and in the end I was the only bidder. £10 including postage, excellent condition. It can be a difficult adventure to find, probably helped by its reputation as one of Gary Gygax's convention favourites, and prices are often more than a little silly, but as so often with eBay patience pays off.

Sweet! That is definitely one of the greats. My players say it was their all-time favorite.

Sweet! That is definitely one of the greats. My players say it was their all-time favorite. My players got TPK'd In fact, I was so sure that the TPK was coming, that my game notes were only prepped as far as that certain death encounter. Ironically, I think there's less chance of a TPK if you play with lower level characters, because the high level ones weren't gonna run. Overall though, I don't put Abduction of Good King Despot up as one of my all-time favorites. A nice puzzle adventure for sure, but it's very linear and because there aren't any wandering encounters, the sense of danger is limited. I'd say it is similar to, but not as good as, Ghost Tower of Inverness.

If you run it, get Ken’s notes, they were a lot of help.

I picked up some minis at GaryCon (RP Fire Giant and a bunch of githyanki and dungeon decor items).
I also bought a few board games (Tom Wham/Jim Ward's DragonLairds and Hirelings: The Ascent). Both look fun, and hopefully our boys will enjoy them.
I bought a few used RPG items, too, but nothing terribly noteworthy.

FWIW, I recently bought the Dragonmech corebook, and introductory adventure, mainly because I found them cheap.
A pretty fine RPG for the days of early d20, I have to say, if probably not everybody's cup of tea.
