I just got a boxed set of some of the best Alfred Hitchcock movies ever. (1) Rear Window (2) The Birds (3) North by Northwest (4) Psycho (5) Vertigo
I've always admired Hitchcock's movies because he tends to tell a great story and without all of the blood and splatter from today's movies. I sort of wish The Man Who Knew Too Much was in the set, but otherwise I'm pretty pleased.
Anyone else have any favorite Hitchcock movies?

Those you've listed pretty well cover the favorites for me!

Peeked at wikipedia's entry on Hitchcock and have a couple more to add to my list. * To Catch a Thief (I actually already have it on DVD) * Torn Curtain (on my must-get list)

These are all great Fin, my favourite being The Birds. My mom had to make me sit down and watch Hitchcock with her at the age of 10 because I thought, "Black and White? No way." I am so glad she did--the Birds got me hooked!
My twenty yrs daughter usually hates my movie picks but she liked Psycho and the ending got her the same way it did me me when I was a boy...WHOA!!!
Having watched it again I was like, I should have seen it really.

The Lady Vanishes is another great one. Has a mystery and a good deal of humor, too.
...though Rear Window and Vertigo are my favorites.

The Trouble with Harry and Psycho are probably my favorites. I like Rope quite a bit, but maybe that's mostly because of the gimmick.

My issue with Hitchcock is - I like "thriller" movies. And since Hitchock was the grandmaster of all modern thriller directors, I happened to have seen most of his tricks and trademarks in the works of lesser artists already before I turned to the classics. So, I have mixed memories of most of his movies. Kind of like comparing Scottian novels to modern historical novels - I appreciate them for what they were at their time, but I find it really difficult to unconditionally enjoy them.
That said, "Rope" and "Rear Window" are two of my favorite movies of all time. (I am a big Jimmy Stewart fan, btw.)

Strangers on a train was interesting. Otherwise the only two from the initial list I have seen are The Birds and Psycho.
I'll have to check out some of the others mentioned here.
I watched Stranger's because my mom has it. She and my dad were into Hitchcock, and Twilight Zone. My grandfather anything with Vincent Price.
