Hi guys. I hope this is the place to post this. Inviting any interested readers to follow a story I am writing. The story is set in the Oklahoma Metro area a few years after the collapse of civilization. WW3 was precipitated by a virus outbreak that turned millions into savage, vampire like cannibals. Star Wars defence systems prevented the nukes in many areas, but conventional warfare decimated what cities survived the bombs. Now the ruins of civilization are dangerous warrens where one must fight every day just to live. A lone survivalist encounters a scientist in the ruins searching for two lost children from a fortified military base. It's just my own take on a popular genre, inspired mostly by zombie and vampire movies and Alas,Babylon. Hope you can give it a read and some comments when you have time. The Story

Ah, Alas, Babylon--I love that book... Looks like a great project! Yes, Kesher--that is indeed a great novel! It's one novel I was made to read in high school that I love anyway. It reminds in me in some ways of the Lord of the Flies, a book I dearly love. Very believable, and come to think of it there was a post apocalyptic tv series that reminded me very much of Alas Babylon as to characters and situations, I want to say Jericho but not positive. I'm just trying to have fun with my story. Started it in 2011, had an apocalypse of sorts of my own called Divorce shortly thereafter and abandoned it for a long time. Seemed time to start it again.

That's funny--I read it in high school, too! We are both obviously children of the 80's... And yeah, Jericho is the one. Lord of the Flies, too--I taught that book five or six times back when I was a high school English teacher, and I found new layers and nuances every time...
