The Delving Deeper Reference Rules Compendium is now available via Lulu.com's Print On Demand service. Cover art by Tim Ide and including all three volumes of the Ref Rules V4 (same as the Hypertext version) built into a single 130 page, digest-sized booklet. It should be less than five bucks in the US (subject to exchange rates), so well cheaper than 1974 prices. Enjoy !

Just ordered...even though I have a copy I printed myself at lulu (from the v3 PDFs), that cover art is amazing. Thanks!

Good Lord, this is the best news I've heard all month! Man I can't wait to order this! And I have to mirror Merias... That cover art is really gorgeous! Fan-bloody-tastic all around... waysoftheearth, thank you and all who've been involved in this. I have been eagerly anticipating this for a long time... It's christmas time at the OD&D proboards!

Would someone mind posting pics once you get it delivered? I'm overseas for the foreseeable future so I won't be able to get a copy (S&H costs) but I'm really curious to see how it turned out.
Is this the final product of the DD process? I remember something about a hardback, is that still in the works?
Thanks

only $6.95 in real money. If you order from the US Lulu store you can use the Lulu code LABORLOVE for 20% off until September 3rd, making it just US$3.82. Yep, that is a whole three dollars and eighty-two cents. Otherwise you can use the Lulu code FWD15 for 15% off (works anywhere as far as I know) making it $4.07 if you live in the US, or $5.91 if you live down under. Is this the final product of the DD process? I remember something about a hardback, is that still in the works? The POD version is the final planned update to the rules partly because it's been well and truly "done" now, but also because it would be such an effort for me to keep changes in sync across the PDFs, POD, and Hypertext versions from here on. An illustrated, indexed hardback edition (of the same rules) with a few other extras is still in the pipe though. In some respects sales of the POD version will indicate whether a hardback edition is likely to be financially viable or not. We'll see how that goes... in the meanwhile, there are supplements and other fun stuff to do

If only I'd read WaysOf's response before ordering... Oh well, worth every penny.

I'm probably going to order a second LULU one just to have as spare references. After, I'm definitely all in for a hardcover, myself.

I'd be keen to know who is actually playing with the Delving Deeper rules set as opposed to just collecting.
I've been playing on and off since the first edition/version, mostly on. Played a bit of DCCRPG in there too but mostly DD.

Well, for myself, I don't have a group outside of the online games I PbP here. But those are DD or very close to it, so I suppose I'm playing. Believe me... I'd love to get a face to face game of this going on!
To be truthful I really want the PoD and the hardback because it will be far easier for me to get back into dungeon crafting with physical copies as opposed to PDF's. PDF's are hard to read for me. Can't wait to break out the old graph paper with a solid rulebook in my hands!

Well, I haven't ponied up for a POD copy since I already printed out the final versions of the individual booklets. I'm holding out for the final, fancy hardcover. It will go quite nicely with my single-volume HC copies of OD&D and S&W WhiteBox.

My DD hardback will go great with my PoD version, however

I'd be keen to know who is actually playing with the Delving Deeper rules set as opposed to just collecting. I've run four sessions using Delving Deeper; well, three and a half- the first session was a mixture of OD&D and DD. Those sessions were with my home printed V2 and then V3 booklets. I am eagerly looking forward to my Lulu copies.

I'd be keen to know who is actually playing with the Delving Deeper rules set as opposed to just collecting. I guess I don't count but, FWIW, I've run a number of "pure" DD games, both PBP and face to face at a convention. And I also run my own PBP and face to face campaign games which are a house ruled mix of ODD/DD/other rules I like. Perhaps worthwhile commenting also that running DD is just like running a regular OD&D game; it's OD&D with a thin layer of clarifications over it.

I've got a PBP DD running over the immersive ink forums, coming up on 1 year old. I've played in a few sessions f2f with my son as DM'd which was very fun. My charmed goblin was named Bitter. "Now now bitter, manners are the cornerstone civilization, you must wash your hands before we eat in this fine establishment. " ah good times. {And of course ways Hinterlands game is a almost DD now.]

Yes, I noticed that however fun it is to write house rules for OD&D, in the end you can remove a lot of them by just running DD as base. I think it hits the sweet spot as a perfectly elucidated version of OD&D.

Is anyone having trouble logging in to Lulu right now (9:51 PM CST) or is it just me?

Would someone mind posting pics once you get it delivered? My copy was delivered today (Monday 8th September); here's what it looks like in real life (through the lens of a rubbish mobile phone camera)... Here it is with some other TSR digest-sized books for scale; it is pretty close to exactly the same size as the later print (4th+) LBBs, which is slightly taller than the 1st-3rd print LBBs: Front cover detail: Front to back cover spread (Little BLACK Book?): Spine: Binding--Lulu's ubiquitous "perfect binding" which means "glued". It is actually pretty strong. I've forcibly pressed the booklet open flat to half a dozen different places and it seems to bounce back pretty well. You also get an idea of the cover stock weight from this image. Interior pages (gives a good look at the gutter and margins): In TSR White Box. Yep, it fits in the TSR white box comfortably. It also just fits snugly in the TSR woodgrain box if you have one: Enjoy

Wow those pics are beautiful! Well, I went through and changed my order to 2 copies, since Lulu has that shipping coupon... Just about a US dollar and some change more for than one copy after that! So my order is currently fulfilling. Can't wait to get mine! Thanks for posting the pics, Simon Fight on! EDIT: The 50% off shipping code is: SMG14
