Two movies on pretty much the same topic, so what do you think about them?
I've seen Tombstone many times. I finally got around to watching Wyatt Earp today. I like Russell's version of the Wyatt character better than Costner's. I've always liked Val Kilmer's Doc "I'm your Huckleberry" Holliday but I found Dennis Quaid's Doc Holliday to be really good as well. Maybe better than Kilmer's. I think that perhaps Dana Delaney tips the scales in favor of Tombstone for me.
What do you think?

For me, it's Tombstone all the way.
However, I think Wyatt Earp would be remembered better if Tombstone had never been made. Wyatt is a good movie. It's just that Tombstone is SO good that it really overshadows W.E. Kilmer is great as Doc, of course. But Quaid's Doc really looks like he's dying!

The "call down the thunder" quote is one of my all-time favorites.

Tombstone.
"I'm your Huckleberry" (does that have any actual historical basis?), the Latin thing (does that have any actual historical basis?) and Doc's drinking cup performance are classic. I like bad guys that are evil (in the movie's case very very evil), yet also three-dimensional and human.

Both. There is so much good stuff in both films, I could never count one over the other ultimately. The real history of the conflict is even more interesting, no matter which side of the argument you side with as well!

Drat. I wish I had included "Specter of the Gun", the old Star Trek TOS episode where the Enterprise crew has to duke it out at the OK Corral. Now that would have been a fine addition to the poll! Mention TOS and Falconer is supposed to appear...

I don't know about the "Huckleberry" thing ( I suspect that was just done because it sounds cool), the latin bit was supposed to be a nod to the fact that Doc was an educated man. Medical school, or what passed for that in the 1800's. That is if I recall an interview with the director, or something.

I voted Tombstone. I used to really like Wyatt Earp, and I kinda like Costners Earp better, but Val Kilmers Doc is better IMHO. Dunno Tombstone veers so close at times to being a campy action pic but somehow pulls it off.

It means "I'm your man" or "I'm the man you're looking for". Answers.com has references to Aurthurian legends which I had not heard prior: www.answers.com/Q/Where_did_the_quotation_%27I_am_your_huckleberry%27_come_fromAs to which I like better, its obvious from my avatar! However I do like Quaid's performance of Doc as well.
