Day 5 (turn 2) for Sergi, Ramon, Axen, Clybe, (Koldo, Aingeru):
Though Axen and Clybe were not interested, Sergi and Ramon were, and Koldo and Aingeru agreed to accompany them (though they allowed Sergi and Ramon to take the lead).
The glow was coming from a ring of large mushrooms growing in the grass. And the adventurers heard...giggling, though they could not see the source. And then they heard the "twang" of bows they could not see...
((Combat intentions, though you can't see your foes?))
"Invisible! We mean no harm and apologize for disturbing you!" He had dim recollections of stories told him by an old woman who lived near the monastery where he was raised. Ramon positioned his shield to protect his body as well as he could while withdrawing back towards the road. As he backed away he prayed to Delleb for the power to see any magical emanations near. He kept backing away until he had covered half the distance back to the road.

Day 5/turn 2, round 1 for Sergi, Ramon, Axen, Clybe, (Koldo, Aingeru):
Sergi had been crawling through the grass towards the west flank of the mushroom ring. He was 90' away when he was apparently spotted by their foes.
Ramon fell back, apologizing before casting his spell.
Sergi, Koldo, and Aingeru were met by a hail of little arrows. Sergi had one stuck in his armor. Koldo took a hit by one that caught him in the side of his thigh as he was turning to leave. Moments later, Koldo dropped to the ground, seemingly just asleep.
Three little men, slightly smaller than halflings, were flying towards them on dragonfly-like wings, holding bows at the ready to shoot again. Two of them were advancing on Koldo and Aingeru, while the third was advancing on Sergi.
Ramon detected magic coming from the glowing mushroom ring, as well as each of their flying foes, and more magic around their flying foes.
((Axen and Clybe are 150' north of their foes. Ramon is 110' north of their foes. Sergi, Koldo, and Aingeru are 70' north of their foes. Sergi could still, technically, have acted before their foes, which might force me to have to edit this later. is 90' northwest of the ring)) ((Hide in shadows: 69%, Move silently: 42%; to hit: 15, 19, 4; save: 6))
Sergi's thief(rogue) training would have kicked in and would have hid in shadows and flank from the side of the green glow. He would have let the two fighters move ahead, while skulking from a flanking position. So Sergi would be 90 feet away from the foes.
(OOC Scott please make Hide in shadows and move silently)

Axen and Clybe stood off in the distance, watching all of this. They both realized that the others were in trouble at about the same time.
Axen grumbled, "I TOLD them that this magic nonsense was nothing but trouble!" He pulled out his sword. "Don't know what this is all about, but it looks like they need help." Axen ran toward the ring of mushrooms as fast as he could.
Clybe walked toward the ring of mushrooms, hoping that these flying... people understood him. He tried shouting a friendly greeting as he approached in each language he knew - human, goblinoid, then partial friendly greetings in two languages he vaguely remembered from childhood. He hoped that some of his words might reach their ears in a positive fashion.
Ramon moved forward to try and grab Koldo and drag him away. All the while he kept his shield up and continued speaking, "We'll withdraw and leave you three gentlemen alone. Please, hold your fire and we will be on our way. Aingeru, help me."

Day 5/turn 2, round 2 for Sergi, Ramon, Axen, Clybe, (Koldo, Aingeru):
Ramon ran up to Koldo, shouting. Axen ran closer towards the battle, but was still 90' away. Clybe, from 100' away, shouted in the tongues of halflings and gnomes, the other languages that he knew. Aingeru moved to help Ramon and they each took Koldo by an arm and began to tug him away.
Since the little fairy monsters seemed to still be more hostile than communicative, Sergi traded arrow fire with two of them. They all missed their targets.

Round two response for Sergi:
Seeing Koldo go down asleep from an arrow, Sergi has a thought, these creatures are not trying to kill us but to incapacitate us. Sergi moves back and says to the creatures, "we are not here to harm you, you attacked us first. If men attacked you recently it was not us." Sergi moves back intended on weaving and dodging and not firing or attacking this round.
Axen heard Sergi's comments about incapacitation and decided that made sense to him. "Ho, my little friends!" he shouted. "We mean you no harm!" Axen stepped a few feet closer, then made a deliberate show of putting his sword down. He then held his empty hands out in front of him. "We are friends, see?"
Clybe rummaged in his pack and found an apple he had picked earlier in the day. He walked slowly toward the faerie ring, knelt down, and rolled the apple into the ring. Clybe had always heard that faeries liked natural sweet foods, so he thought this gift might appease them. "This is for you, as a sign of apology and friendship!" Clybe said, though he was unsure whether the faeries understood him or not. Hopefully, they would understand the gesture.

Day 5/turn 2, rounds 3-4 for Sergi, Ramon, Axen, Clybe, (Koldo, Aingeru):
Axen stopped about 85' north of the mushroom ring and its defenders. Ramon and Aingeru were able to drag Koldo a little further away, so they were 80' north of the ring. Clybe walked past them and was 70' from the ring, still rummaging for his apple. Sergi stood off to the side, behind everyone now, 90' away. The fairies were now 10' north of the ring themselves.
There was a lot of talking in various languages, trying to coax friendship out of the fairies. The fairies, however, did not seem interested in talking. They lowered their bows, relaxed their draw on their strings, and landed on the ground instead of hovering in mid-air thanks to their fast-moving wings.
This standoff was going just fine until Clybe walked 10' closer, with apple in hand. Everyone saw the fairies tensing to raise their bows, sensing that hostilities were about to renew, but it was Sergi who managed to take the first post-standoff shot. His shot went wild (or perhaps it was another warning shot). Sergi could have got off a shot with his bow before them, but decided to duck and weave to make himself harder to hit instead. Clybe was less fortunate. A fairy arrow struck him where he was protected less by his armor, he suddenly felt dizzy, then woozy, and fell over into the grass where he stood.

Day 5/turn 2, rounds 5-6 for Sergi, Ramon, Axen, Clybe, (Koldo, Aingeru):
Axen and Aingeru were too stunned by this turn of events to react quickly. Ramon was still 40' from the fairies when Sergi managed to trade arrow fire with them. Sergi's shot went wild (or perhaps it was another warning shot). Sergi took a hit from return fire and, although he felt tired all of a sudden, he managed to shrug it off because, well, maybe everyone was depending on his bow!
Sergi took another, more careful shot and this time he struck his target! The little fairy was hit so hard he rolled over backwards and laid in the grass, unconscious and bleeding to death. Ramon reached the fairies just as they were starting to take to the air again. He swung, clipped one, and his mace seriously injured the fairy. The remaining fairy turned, flew back into the glowing mushroom ring and disappeared from view.
((Sergi's to hit: 4; to hit Sergi: 17, save: 16; Sergi's to hit: 20, dmg: 5; Ramon's to hit: 19, dmg: 2))
Ramon leaped to the aid of the bleeding faerie. He attempted to stop its bleeding and prevent its death. He felt this whole conflict a terrible misunderstanding. Hopefully aiding the wounded fairy would communicate that to its friends, he had only acted in self defense and already regretted the effects.

Round 5-6 response for Sergi
Sergi slings his bow and heads over to clybe's sleeping body. When he arrives there he carefully and gently plucks out the thorn/arrow in Sergi first. Then he will gently remove the thorn/arrow from Clybe in hopes this will wake him up.

Day 5/turn 2, rounds 7-8 for Sergi, Ramon, Axen, Clybe, (Koldo, Aingeru):
Axen began his long charge towards the remaining fairies, but was still 45' away.
Ramon ran towards the bleeding fairy, but was still 40' away.
Sergi put his bow away and jogged towards Clybe. He was still 60' away.
The remaining fairy on his feet backed up to the edge of the glowing mushroom ring and kept his bow ready.
Though Axen was the only one appearing visibly hostile in his intent, it was Ramon who drew within 30' of the fairy first and was fired upon. The arrow flew wide off its mark (or perhaps was a warning shot?).
Ramon now reached the fallen fairy and knelt down by it.
Axen was now 5' from melee range with the still-dangerous fairy.
Sergi was 15' away from Clybe.
The fairy Axen was charging disappeared from sight.

Turn 2 round 8 intention for Sergi
Sergi moves to Clybe and then slowly removes the needle from his side, hoping removing the needle will wake Clybe up. He does ask, "Ramon any idea as to why these fairies would attack us. According to fables Fairies are supposed to be mischievous and not aggressive."

Day 5/turn 3 for Sergi, Ramon, Axen, Clybe, (Koldo, Aingeru):
The glow around the mushroom ring was slowly fading.
Ramon examined the downed fairy and found the one Sergi dropped was still alive, but dying. He spent some time putting pressure on wounds and wrapping them with the fairy's own clothes, garments that looked much like what a human hunter might wear. The fairy's condition stabilized, but he remained unconscious.
Similarly, Clybe remained unconscious even though Sergi plucked the small arrow from a bloodless wound. Aingeru did the same thing for Koldo, reporting the same results.
"Axen and Sergi, check out the ring of mushrooms," Ramon said using his magical sight to look for signs of magic on the faerie and around the mushroom ring.
He was not sure what to do with the unconscious faerie now but he felt better that this misunderstanding had not led to any deaths. But now there was the question of what to do with a comatose "prisoner."
Sergi moves forward to the ring of mushrooms as Ramon has advised. He look around for secret openings, a trap door in the ground. As he is searching he keeps a hand on his sword in case there is danger.
(Scott please make Find traps for Sergi and any observation roll)
Axen stopped and watched carefully. He *really* disliked magical trickery, particularly after seeing Clybe knocked out just for offering a simple peaceful gesture of an apple. He wanted to give one of those faeries a pounding, but everyone else seemed to have stopped.
