This started as an in-game justification for exceptionally tough specimens of humanoids (...the Hobgoblin king will fight as an Ogre...) and I expanded that idea. GarschtFrom a goblin word for better, garscht is a sort of royal jelly analog for goblinoids. It works on the typical humanoid races in D&D: kobolds, goblins, orcs, hobgoblins, bugbears (and optionally ettin, trolls, and ogres). Garscht is a noisome brew humans and demihumans are unable to tolerate, even if a gulp is forced down the body rapidly and forcibly rejects it. Goblinoids drinking it fall into a deep sleep for 1 week, during which time a random attribute increases to 18. d8 | Result | 1 | Strength | 2 | Intelligence | 3 | Wisdom | 4 | Wisdom | 5 | Dexterity | 6 | Charisma | 7 | Strength + 1 Other | 8 | Any 2, No Duplicates |
Optionally, the imbiber also gains a random mutation on 1-2 (d6). d10 | Result | 1 | Horns, +1 morale to all allies | 2 | Antennae, allows ESP | 3 | Bat-Like Wings, flight | 4 | Third Eye, detect invisible and know alignment | 5 | Extra Pair of Arms, double melee attacks | 6 | Extra Pair of Legs, centaur-like arrangement that doubles movement | 7 | Venom, acidic saliva with 3" spit range x 3 per day | 8 | Tail, prehensile with stinger | 9 | Chameleon, +2 to all surprise checks | 0 | Spinal Plates, prevent back-stab and allow lightning bolt x 3 per day |

Hm. I never saw that the Hobgoblin King was the size and shape of an Ogre, just that he was a 4th level Hobgoblin.

This, good Sir, is pretty fricken' interesting. Had an alternate idea for #6, too. While still doubling movement, or perhaps only adding half-again, it could be: 6: Hunchback and ape-like arms. Adds half-again to movement in a fast, apish shamble. You could kind of 'ettercap' them, too; Add an option that mutates them with spider-like glands in (pick your favorite orifice ) that allows them to cast Web twice a day. Irregardless of my tinkering (Tis a habit... What can I say? Heh), I love this! Great stuff and I bet it's fun at the table!

That's why I put it up here - so folks would take it and tinker with it a bit. I tried to think of a lot different options for the 2nd table and I like what you've posted.
