If it takes the Skellies a round to get to us, Barlo will take up shield (letting his cross fall on it's chain to his neck/breast) and raise his mace to crush un-living bone! He won't move forward to attack; He will stay the combat line as it is.

Quasmus will defend himself with the pole for as long as possible, switching to his dagger only as a last resort. He aims primarily to defend himself, not inflict damage. Are the clerical fellows able to make another turn attempt?
(OOC: Good idea, flightcommander ) ((Appending Barlo's commands, if I may)) Barlo will again raise his cross, and shout in Mitra's name for the unliving to flee before it, if he has time to do so before the skeletons are upon he and his friends.
If he does not have time to do so, he will melee the boney buggers with his mace.

Not having a marching order, I lined you up in left to right in order of the ref charts with mages behind.
I hope you don't mind that I kept things on a roll, I would have stopped for player input if there seemed to be a real place for change of action...
I'm trying out a little new rule, won't work with all opponents, but if Quasmus hits with his 10' pole, he is able to prevent his opponent from attacking. Let me know what you think.
Orofer is attacked by 2 skeletons, he attacks the first (8 miss) Brother Cyril is attacked by 1 skeleton, he attacks (12 hit, 3 damage) and the skeleton crumbles to the ground Fitz is attacked by 1 skeleton, he attacks (19 hit, 2 damage) and the skeleton crumbles to the ground Father Barlo is attacked by 2 skeletons, he attacks the first (2 miss)
Skeleton attacks Orofer (10 miss) Skeleton attacks Orofer (13 hit, 4 damage), Orofer collapses to the ground Skeleton attacks Brother Cyril (5 miss) Skeleton attacks Fitz (12 miss) Skeleton attacks Father Barlo (2 miss) Skeleton attacks Father Barlo (13 miss)
The next round, initiative is again tied (3 vs 3)
Brother Cyril attacks (8 miss) Fitz attacks (13 hit, 2 damage) and the skeleton crumbles to the ground Father Barlo attacks (8 miss) Quasmus is able to fend off a skeleton from Father Barlo (17 hit)
Skeleton attacks Brother Cyril (7 miss) Skeleton attacks Fitz (14 miss) Skeleton attacks Father Barlo (15 hit, 6 damage) and Father Barlo collapses to the ground Skeleton is unable to attack
The next round the PCs win initiative (5 vs 2)
Brother Cyril attacks (8 miss) Fitz Attacks (13 hit, 3 damage) and the skeleton crumbles to the ground Quasmus is again able to fend off a skeleton (15 hit)
Skeleton attacks Brother Cyril (12 miss) Skeleton attacks Fitz (15 miss) Skeleton is unable to attack
The next round again the PCs retain the initiative (6 vs 3)
Brother Cyril attacks (3 miss) Fitz attacks Brother Cyril's skeleton (18 hit, 3 damage) and the skeleton crumbles to the ground Quasmus is able to fend off a skeleton (18 hit)
Skeleton is unable to attack
The next round, the last remaining skeleton gains initiative (3 vs 6)
Skeleton attacks Fitz (8 miss)
Brother Cyril attacks (12 hit, 6 damage) and the skeleton crumbles to the ground
Brother Cyril will tend to the fallen:
Unfortunately Father Barlo has succumbed to his injuries (Roll 14 vs Con 13 - 4) Orofer will recover 1 hp after a day of rest, and full hit points with a weeks rest in town
Orofer opens his eyes and sees the crumpled form of Father Barlo. Better him than me he thinks, but out loud he croaks "Not Father Barlo? That brave man sacrificed himself for us." Orofer is thinking it is good that he has money for an extended stay at an inn.
Currently running OD&D Verbosh Campaign (I can usually squeeze in an extra player)

Quasmus lifts a skull from the strew of ribs and fibulae and rusty ironmongery to ponder the still-grimacing thing with pity.
"Alas! Poor stupid bastard," he says, tossing the skull into the gutter and leaning on his 10' pole to rest a moment and observe Fitz scrabbling for coins. He hangs his head with sadness and regards the fallen cleric. "Brother Barlo here lies dead, a friend in arms for but a brief moment, now past. We shall carry his body hence to such a sanctuary as will accept it from us with dignity, and without a fee.
"Gather your things, and hie we onward to The Scholars' Inn — the light wanes!"
"Great rattling bones and baffelry! Skeletons!" Shrieks Mortimer, having just entered at a leisurely cant into the street only to be met by a throng of the risen dead. He looks about quickly, grasping at his cross at his neck, and spies the Sholar's Inn...
OOC: Frank, how far is Mortimer from the crowd of skeletons? Is he far enough to make a turn attempt and run the next round or is he too close to perform more than one action? He will run to the Inn if he's too close; try to turn them if he is far enough to not get counter-attacked.

Quasmus hauls up short as the skeletons disgorge en masse from the alley into the street before him. "Yikes — this way!" he shouts, turning on his heels and charging back through the streets whence they came. "We must find another route to safety ..."
Mortimer has already turned the skeletons (hopefully the clerics don't mind my assuming this action...), but not all of them, and of course he can only turn once per encounter...
Mortimer can easily reach the Scholar's Inn at this point, and being armored in chain, he can easily outrun the skeletons.
The rest of the party turns tail and flees back the way they came, unfortunately, the skeletons turned in the first encounter have started to boil back out of the side street... (Brother Cyril may attempt to turn these skeletons again).
The rest of the street has cleared of traffic... Some folks have dropped bags of produce, and a crock of milk lies shattered in the middle of the street...
The only really safe retreat would be a Shield Maker on the South side of the street, or try climbing the walls or a lamp post...

Quasmus, seeing their path of retreat blocked by more skeletons, comes to a halt and looks around. "To the shield-maker's workshop!" With any luck, the inhabitants of the workshop will let the party in ...
"To arms! To arms! The dead walk again!" Shouts Mortimer, his head twisting about for members of the watch or general army. He peers outwards from the safety of the doorway to the Scholar's Inn as he does so, hands at the doors and preparing to slam them shut if need be.
