I just realized the character of the Glorious General was shaped mostly by the Roman centurions in the old "Asterix the Gaul" comics.
"What's all the noise, Chirine?"
"Sorry, Glorious General, 2500 mad Milumanayani tribesmen just showed up to ritually carve out your liver with poisoned thorns."
"What, again? That's the third time this week."
