Hello All. Re-joining the forum after several years away from the online scene. Been lurking for a bit and thought it was time to rejoin the fold. Found my original post on this thread in April 2008, which was interesting to read. I first discovered D&D with Holmes and B2 back in 1980 and the passion has remained ever since. Some will know me as the compiler of Holmes Revised and later as editor of the Single Volume OD&D. I also had a blog for a bit - There's Dungeons Down Under. Looking forward to catching up and glad to be back on what was always the best of the old school forums.
Dave

You were one of the Holmes fans that inspired me to start the Zenopus Archives, and I remember reading your blog regularly back when I started up with mine. Z

Grayharp -- I tracked down your April '08 post hoping to find your earlier post count (so I could add it to your current one) but it didn't give one.

Thanks for trying Marv, technology doesn't always cooperate and I'm happy to start at level 0.

Feels like ages since we corresponded with each other. Glad you're still around, man, and great to see you again!

G'day Clarence, yes it is! And yes it has been more than a few years. Must admit it was seeing you join the forum a few days ago that made me finally knock on Marv's door and ask to be let back in.
I dropped out of online participation because of growing toxicity across the scene but looking back I'd met some good and decent people along the way, like yourself, and I was sad to lose the good with the bad. So here I am.

As much I'd love to play online again for a change, Ron, I completely lack the time for it these days. A shame, really. That's a bummer for sure, I'm thinking of starting another PbP over on Unseen Servant. Likely 1E, and NO high posting rate.

Hello! I've been reading this forum with interest for a while now, and thought I'd throw in. I started gaming as a teenager in the '90s, cutting my teeth on the Rules Cyclopedia and AD&D 2nd edition. I don't play as much as I'd like to right now, but I try to keep up on current events and the state of the art and all that. Looking forward to contributing. Thanks!

Please allow me to introduce myself: my name's Trevor, I'm a Canadian now living in the USA, and I started playing D&D in 1981, in the prairie town of Saskatoon. Believe it or not when I got introduced to the game we had a tiny D&D library in our 7th grade classroom: a copy of the Holmes rule book, a pastel B1, Monsters & Treasure, and The Underworld and Wilderness Adventures. All stamped property of the school, just like textbooks. Dunno what became of Men & Magic -- I never even saw a copy till I bought my own in the '90s. About a third of my class played D&D; I heard that before I got there, some local college students (the University of Saskatchewan was a mile down the road) had taught them how to play on a volunteer basis. I learned to play from my classmates, soon buying a Moldvay Basic Set of my own, followed by the inevitable slide into AD&D. But In Search of the Unknown is still my Platonic idea of a dungeon, and nowadays I'm happily poring over Delving Deeper, Blueholme, and Full Metal Plate Mail!

Hi, I'm Gabriel, I'm from Uruguay, I started playing trpgs a year ago, I love old school games more than new school games like 5e D&D or Pathfinder. My favourite games are S&W and Delving Deeper, and I hope to learn I share experiences with all of you.
Regards!

Hello. I'm Bob, I'm from Europe and I never played D&D. Baldurs Gate and 3rd Ed were first time I managed to even see this game, so to me the classics are Warhammer, Kult and Cyberpunk, That said, I'm a big fan of role playing history (enough to get Arts & Arcana just for the Tomb of Horrors), so I'm a constant lurker in this forums. So I decided to finally register.

Much appreciated, but as a Mod/Admin there I know the ropes and have the powah, Plus Real Life hasn't let up yet, so I have no clue when I'm starting that game. But I know I can count on you!! Thanks again! --Ron--

Greetings, I'm new here and really like these forums so far. I've been playing trpgs off and on for about 15 years. Started with 3e, tried out 4e, then dove in deep about five years ago with 5e. During that time I also played in a weekly 1e game for about a year which I greatly enjoyed but had to drop out of due to time constraints. That 1e game planted the seeds for my interest in old school games and I've spent the last few months looking at and reading various old editions and retro clones. Anyway, excited and glad to be here!

Hello everyone, I've been lurking this boards from time to time in the last two years or so and decided to finally jump in. I'm Spanish, although I live in Germany and I'm 31. I started role-playing with age 7 as my brother run several Star Wars d6 for me and my cousins. After two or three unforgettable years of adventures, we moved to MERP but by that time their enthusiasm for RPGs started to wane. Mine not, though, so I moved and introduced my group of friends to both games which I run. I even modified the SW system to accomodate it to several campaigns I run in Archaic/Classical Greece and another in Middle Age Mongolia. We also played two or three campaigns with 1st edition Warhammer RPG. After three years or so things started to fade again until I got to play again with my best two friends from those times and some new ones, but this time it was AD&D 2e, since those two best friends and me grew up in the 90's/early 2000's we counted the videogames based on the AD&D 2e system as our top favourites. That's why we decided to play tabletop AD&D. Beign a historian, I started to take interest in the history of D&D and ended up loving OD&D above any other system to a point that it's become one of the things I enjoy more in life. And that's what brought me here, basically
