Shade does not dismount, but moves Andre closer to the corpse to see if he can tell what killed it. He keeps a watchful eye out for anything that might already be feasting on the dead body.

The party wisely skirts the random encounter and continues north through the creepy forest.
April 26
The dinosaur convoy treks north toward where the peninsula narrows to a narrow strip of land. [1d6] The party crosses the neck without incident and reaches the mainland. Rocky hills rise from the sand dunes a day's march to the north. Off shore to your west there is a small wooded island an short swim away. The logical path to the Head is to go north, then turn west across the sands and then follow the chain of islands. There are a few hours of daylight left enough to reach the northern edge of the forest by nightfall, or alternately check out the island.
[apologies for not posting an updated map; it's on my other computer... but you can picture where you are, yes?]

Although the island sounds like a nice break (and pirates always bury their treasure on islands, right), Shade thinks we should try to make our way to the stone head as fast as we can. Stay the course!

You exit the forest by nightfall and camp on the beach. There is a tall column of smoke on the horizon about 6 hexes to the west, and the fire is still burning strong the next morning after [1d6] an uneventful night.
April 27
The convoy makes great time over the rolling sand dunes but visibility is hampered a dense fog. Rod Quarry wisely consults his compass and keeps the party moving due west.
The cold clinging fog is so thick that the brontosaurus riders can't even see the snouts of their own dinosaurs, and the party is [1d6] completely surprised and blunders into the ambush of [2d100] 69 brown cannibals!!! They are Armored Foot, clad in suits of enormous seashells and brandishing long skewering pikes! The pike shafts bear the crab coat-of-arms of the Constant Tyrant.
The brown men attack in a pincers formation from north and south simultaneously. They charge in the disciplined tight formation of experienced pikesmen, but their faces are slavering with mindless hunger for man-flesh!
Here they come! Time to rally the dinosaurs and troops into formation to meet the two-pronged charge.

During the trip Minion has mastered the third and final ritual in the Accursed Tome:
The Accursed Sounding of the Void, a four-hour ritual of Invoking that attempts to contact the inhuman intelligences that brood in the deepest intergalactic gulfs. This ritual is unusual in that the sacrifices (an Ulfire boy and girl) are not put to death and can be reused. The material component is a set of black opal torture implements worth 10,000 sp.

Breath holds position upon Junior, to see the result of Andre's breath attack. She, Blasphemous Blade and Devil Maw will fire their howdah guns at any nearby brown men.
Dream Stalker readies the glitter bazooka, and will fire upon any large grouping of brown men who are not too close to any of her allies (she targets the furthest group she can). Serpent's Scion will fire her Howdah gun at the nearest brown man.
