 John Carter movie on DVD
« Thread Started on Jun 8, 2012, 7:11pm »

Picked this up the other day. Just as much fun to watch on the small screen as it was in the theatres, and this time my son finally got to see it. He's never read JCoM books and wasn't impressed enough by the commercials to go see it, but he really liked the movie.

The DVD also has an "extra" about how it took 100 years to finally bring JC to film. Only about 5-10 minutes, but interesting viewing anyway. :D

When I picked it up at the local Hastings bookstore a guy commented: "It must be good, there goes another one!"

And I said: "Yeah, do yourself a favor, it is that good."

And it is.

Or, maybe the guy is one of those dudes in a Star Destroyer watching life pods eject from the Rebel Blockade Runner. "There goes another one!"

I was disappointed that the DVD doesn't seem to have much in the way of extras (except maybe the short that Fin mentioned above). I haven't looked at the Blue-Ray, but I'm guessing that it is pretty much the same.

I had that problem when I lived in an apartment. So I had people ship stuff to me at work. That took care of it.

The movie itself wasn't marketed well.

They came out with an "Art of John Carter" coffee table book that almost instantly went out of print and is now $150 or more on Amazon.

I hoped for a regular and deluxe DVD option, but no luck. The lack of extras is just one more misfire.

At least the movie itself was well done! ;D

Well yeah, I mean if you are going to hang around a Hastings you kind of are like those guys. :-/
